Three schools, two real weekends

Boston University goes first: Commencement Weekend runs May 13-16, 2027, with the All-University Commencement on Sunday, May 16 at Nickerson Field, BU’s own athletic venue along the Charles River.

Two weeks later, Harvard and MIT collide directly. Harvard’s Commencement is Thursday, May 27, 2027, the traditional ceremony in Harvard Yard. MIT’s commencement activities run Wednesday, May 26 through Friday, May 28, 2027, culminating in the university’s traditional outdoor ceremony at Killian Court — we’ve confirmed the activity window from MIT’s own registrar, but haven’t independently pinned down the exact hour of the main Killian Court ceremony within it yet.

The Memorial Day tail

Memorial Day 2027 falls on Monday, May 31 — just three days after MIT’s commencement window closes. It’s the same pattern documented at Cornell’s commencement that same month: if your family’s travel plans run through the holiday, expect Memorial Day weekend demand stacked on top of graduation demand for the tail end of your trip.

What we haven’t verified yet

We don’t yet have confirmed, dated guidance on specific arrival times, parking, or road-closure logistics for any of the three ceremonies in 2027 — each university typically publishes this closer to the date. Check each school’s own commencement office site as May 2027 approaches.
