The on-campus hotel does not take ordinary one-night football bookings. Its War Eagle Package Holder programme is a seven to eight game home season commitment, two nights minimum per game, prepaid in full, and you join it by texting a keyword to get on a waitlist. A separate resell queue is the only route to a single game weekend, also two nights minimum and fully prepaid. So the practical question at Auburn is not which hotel, it is which weekend, and the six 2026 home dates are below. The one to plan hardest around is LSU on Saturday 24 October, an 11:00 a.m. CDT kickoff on ABC/ESPN, which is the marquee home fixture of the season and the earliest start on the card.

The hotel sells a season, not a night
Auburn’s on-campus hotel does something almost no other property on this site does, and it changes what “booking a football weekend” even means here.
The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center sells football accommodation through its War Eagle Package Holder programme: seven to eight home games, a two-night minimum at each, prepaid in full. The hotel describes it as guaranteeing “your spot for every Auburn home game.” You do not book it. You text the keyword FootballWEPH to join a waitlist.
There is one other route in, and it is not really a front door either: a resell queue for single weekends released by package holders. It carries the same two-night minimum and the same full prepayment.
So the honest framing for a visiting family is that the campus hotel is effectively closed to ordinary single-game booking, and the real decision is which weekend you are competing for elsewhere in town.
The same hotel runs a separate text-alert waitlist for graduation rooms. Two waitlists at one property is a fairly clear statement about how quickly its inventory goes.
The six home dates, and the one that bites
Auburn plays six games at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 2026. Published kickoffs where they exist, and Auburn’s own labels:
| Date | Opponent | Kickoff | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sat 12 Sep | Southern Miss | 6:45 p.m. CDT | Kickoff on the Plains |
| Sat 19 Sep | Florida | 6:00 p.m. CDT | |
| Sat 26 Sep | Vanderbilt | Afternoon | Homecoming |
| Sat 24 Oct | LSU | 11:00 a.m. CDT | ABC/ESPN |
| Sat 7 Nov | Arkansas | Early | Military Appreciation |
| Sat 21 Nov | Samford | 2:30 p.m. CST |
LSU is the weekend to plan hardest around, and the kickoff time is the reason as much as the opponent. An 11:00 a.m. start on a nationally televised SEC Saturday means the stadium is filling by nine, which puts the whole weight of demand on the Friday night rather than letting anyone drive in on the morning. Early kickoffs make a small town’s hotels tighter, not looser.
Two absences worth knowing. The Iron Bowl is away in 2026, at Bryant-Denny Stadium on 28 November, so Auburn’s biggest fixture is not an Auburn lodging weekend this year. And the opener against Baylor is at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 5 September, not on campus.
Homecoming falls on 26 September against Vanderbilt. Auburn labels it, but the kickoff is published only as “Afternoon”, and of the six home dates it is the softest draw.
Where that leaves you
The ladder above sorts the alternatives by drive time: Columbus, Georgia at about 45 minutes and Montgomery, Alabama at about 58. Both are real cities with hotel economies of their own, and on a football Saturday both are doing the work that the campus hotel will not.
Three practical notes for game weekends specifically rather than graduation ones.
The two-night minimum is not unique to the campus hotel in practice: it is a common pattern across SEC towns on game weekends, and Auburn is a small city. Assume two nights and be pleasantly surprised.
Early kickoffs are worse than late ones for a commuter. The 11 a.m. LSU game cannot realistically be reached from Montgomery on the morning; the 6:45 p.m. Southern Miss game can.
And the town’s calendar collides with itself in December. Auburn’s next commencement is Saturday 12 December 2026, three weeks after the last home game, with three ceremonies in one day. If you are looking at Auburn hotels for late autumn generally, the where to stay page covers that weekend.
The booking links on this page deliberately carry no dates, because a season is not a stay window. Pick your weekend from the table above and set your own nights.

Frequently asked questions
Can I just book one night at the on-campus hotel for a game?
Not through the front door. The Hotel at Auburn University sells football accommodation as a full-season package, seven to eight home games with a two-night minimum at each, prepaid in full. The hotel's own page describes it as guaranteeing "your spot for every Auburn home game." The resell queue is the exception, and it still carries the two-night minimum and full prepayment.
How do you join that programme?
By text message. The hotel's page says to text the keyword FootballWEPH to join the waitlist for its War Eagle Package Holder programme. You are joining a queue rather than making a booking, and the same hotel runs a comparable text-alert waitlist for graduation weekends, which tells you something about how its inventory moves.
Which 2026 home game is the hardest weekend?
LSU on Saturday 24 October. It is the marquee home fixture of the season, it is on ABC/ESPN, and its 11:00 a.m. CDT kickoff is the earliest of any Auburn home game this year, which pushes demand onto the Friday night rather than the Saturday. Florida on 19 September at 6 p.m. is the next most significant.
Is the Iron Bowl at home this year?
No. Auburn plays Alabama away on 28 November, at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, so the Iron Bowl is not an Auburn lodging weekend in 2026. The season opener against Baylor is also off campus, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on 5 September.
When is Homecoming?
Saturday 26 September, against Vanderbilt, and Auburn labels it as Homecoming on its own schedule. The kickoff is listed only as "Afternoon" rather than a time, so treat the hour as open. Of the six home dates it is the softest opponent, which usually shows in what rooms cost.
