Auburn holds three commencement ceremonies on Saturday 12 December 2026, all at Neville Arena, and it has published which college goes in each. Bachelor's candidates from Architecture, Business, Education, Engineering and University College go at 9 a.m. Master's and doctoral candidates go at 2 p.m. Bachelor's candidates from Agriculture, Forestry, Human Sciences, Liberal Arts, Nursing and Sciences and Mathematics go at 7 p.m. Doors open 90 minutes before each. The rule that catches families out is the ticket: Auburn requires one for every attendee REGARDLESS OF AGE, up to eight per graduate, reserved by the graduate alone inside a window that cannot be reopened. Spring 2027 is listed as 30 April but Auburn publishes it as tentative with colleges still to be decided.

Three ceremonies, one Saturday, published in full
Auburn has done the thing most universities leave until six weeks out. The whole December day is already on its site.
Saturday 12 December 2026, Neville Arena. Doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony.
| Time | Degree | Colleges |
|---|---|---|
| 9:00 a.m. | Bachelor’s | Architecture, Design and Construction · Harbert College of Business · Education · Samuel Ginn Engineering · University College |
| 2:00 p.m. | Master’s and Doctoral | Graduate School |
| 7:00 p.m. | Bachelor’s | Agriculture · Forestry, Wildlife and Environment · Human Sciences · Liberal Arts · Nursing · Sciences and Mathematics |
Ten hours from the first to the last. For a family, that is the difference between an overnight before, an overnight after, and in the middle case possibly neither. Establish which ceremony applies before booking travel, because nothing else on this page moves the trip as much.
Everyone needs a ticket, and the deadline does not reopen
This is the rule Auburn is strictest about, and the one most likely to catch a family who has graduated a child elsewhere.
“University-issued tickets are required for all graduates and attendees (regardless of age).”
Not adults. Not over-twos, as at one other university covered here. Everyone. A three-month-old needs a ticket.
The allocation is actually generous: up to eight guest tickets per graduate, where several universities on this site cap it at five. Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine students are noted as exempt from the graduate ticket requirement.
Two conditions do the damage:
Only the graduate can reserve. A parent cannot do it for them, so if your student is deep in finals and not reading email, that is a real risk.
The window does not reopen. Auburn states that graduates who miss the reservation period cannot request guest tickets. The Fall 2026 dates had not been posted when we checked; for scale, the summer round opened about nine weeks before the ceremony and closed about five weeks before. Watch for it, and put it in your student’s calendar rather than your own.
If you end up with spares, Auburn asks that they go back through the ticket portal to be redistributed rather than left unused. Worth doing: someone else’s grandparent is on the wrong side of that eight.
One accessibility constraint to plan around: ADA seating is first come, first served, and only one guest may accompany someone using it. A party of four including a wheelchair user cannot all sit together in that section.
What 2027 actually says
Auburn looks further ahead than most, but not all of it is firm, and the difference matters.
Spring 2027 is listed as Friday 30 April, published as tentative, with colleges to be decided. It is a placeholder rather than a bookable date, and worth being blunt about: it is the kind of entry that reads like a confirmed ceremony and is not one.
Firmer: Summer 2027 on Saturday 7 August and Fall 2027 on Saturday 11 December. Further out again, Auburn lists Spring 2028 tentatively on 5 May and Summer 2028 on 5 August.
So the practical ordering is: December 2026 is fully published and bookable, the 2027 summer and fall dates are dated but undetailed, and spring 2027 is provisional. If your graduate is finishing in spring, hold the date loosely and wait for the colleges to be assigned.
Absent rather than estimated
Unpublished at the time of writing, and therefore not on this page: the Fall 2026 ticket reservation window dates, ceremony length, parking arrangements for Neville Arena, any bag policy, and the per-college schedule for any 2027 round.
Nothing from the summer or spring 2026 rounds has been carried across to stand in for December. Where this page describes the summer window, it says so and gives it as scale rather than as a date to plan against.

Frequently asked questions
Which ceremony is my graduate in?
Auburn assigns it by college and has published the split. 9 a.m. bachelor's: Architecture, Design and Construction; Harbert Business; Education; Samuel Ginn Engineering; University College. 2 p.m.: master's and doctoral candidates from the Graduate School. 7 p.m. bachelor's: Agriculture; Forestry, Wildlife and Environment; Human Sciences; Liberal Arts; Nursing; Sciences and Mathematics.
Do guests really need tickets, even children?
Yes. Auburn's wording is "University-issued tickets are required for all graduates and attendees (regardless of age)", which is the strictest formulation of any university covered on this site. An infant needs a ticket. Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine students are noted as exempt from the graduate ticket requirement.
How many guest tickets, and how do we get them?
Up to eight per graduate, which is generous. Only the graduate can reserve them, and only within a fixed window. Auburn says graduates who miss that window cannot request guest tickets at all, so this is a deadline with no appeal. If you end up with spares, Auburn asks that they be returned through the ticket portal to be redistributed to other graduates rather than wasted.
What time should we arrive?
Doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony, so 7:30 a.m. for the morning one. ADA seating is available first come, first served, and Auburn states that only one guest may accompany someone using it, which is worth planning around if your party includes a wheelchair user and more than one companion.
What is confirmed for 2027?
Less than it looks. Auburn lists Spring 2027 as Friday 30 April but publishes it as tentative, with colleges to be decided. It also lists Summer 2027 on 7 August and Fall 2027 on 11 December, and looks further ahead still with Spring 2028 tentatively on 5 May and Summer 2028 on 5 August. Treat the tentative ones as placeholders rather than bookable dates.
