Troy University's Troy campus holds its fall commencement on Friday 11 December 2026 and its spring commencement on Friday 14 May 2027. Before anything else, check which campus your graduate is on, because Troy University graduates its Montgomery campus on different days in a different city: 14 December 2026 and 24 May 2027, about 64 minutes up the road. Both Troy dates come from the university's 2026-27 catalog rather than its commencement page, which still carried only the already-held 2026 rounds when we checked. Troy's commencement information page now names the venue for the Troy campus as Trojan Arena. On availability, the December round measured flat: eleven bookable properties against a control median of ten. The constraint here is that ten properties is the entire town, and there is nothing inside forty-five minutes.

Check the campus before you check the hotels
Troy University graduates two campuses on two different days in two different cities, and the gap between them is about an hour of driving.

This page covers the town of Troy, and so does the hotel map on it. If the invitation says Montgomery, everything below is the wrong city by 48 miles.
It is an easy mistake to make. The university has one name, one website and one calendar, and the two campuses sit in the same table three days apart. A family that books Troy hotels for a Montgomery ceremony has an hour’s drive in the wrong direction on a Monday morning.
The dates are in the catalog, not on the commencement page
When we checked on 16 August 2026, Troy’s commencement information page carried three ceremonies: spring 2026 on 14 and 15 May, summer 2026 on 24 July, and the Montgomery round of 21 May. All of them had already happened. There was nothing for fall 2026 and nothing for spring 2027.
The dates exist. They are in the 2026-27 undergraduate catalog, on its Calendar page, in a table headed “Commencement Dates” and marked revised 19 November 2025.
The academic calendar page on troy.edu would be the obvious middle step, and it renders its calendar in the browser in a way that returned nothing to any retrieval we tried, so it is not a usable source either way.
This is the most common failure pattern on this site, and it has now caught out enough clusters to be worth naming: the commencement office and the registrar publish on different schedules, and neither is authoritative for the other. Anyone who checked only the obvious page in August 2026 would have recorded Troy as having no published future date. It has two.
The venue is now published
Troy’s commencement information page lists Trojan Arena as the location for the Troy campus, directly above the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 dates. Until the page did that, this cluster named no venue, because the catalog published dates only and Trojan Arena had been the spring 2026 venue; carrying a venue forward from a round that has already happened is the way wrong venues get printed.
Parking is limited in the Trojan Arena lot, and the page points to a campus parking map and a shuttle service for graduates and guests to and from the Chancellor’s Reception and commencement. No start time is published for the Troy campus, which is the detail to watch next.
December measures flat, and the reason to book early is different here

The commencement window is at the top of its control range. December graduation is not squeezing Troy, which matches thirteen of the fourteen other December rounds measured across this site.
The May 2027 round measured eight against a control median of ten, so a mild dip rather than a collapse.
The number that should actually shape your planning is neither of those percentages. It is ten. Ten bookable properties is the entire town on a normal weekend. A market that small has no cushion: one conference, one wedding party and one graduating family arriving late is a meaningful share of it.
Nothing inside forty-five minutes
Troy has the emptiest inner ring of any cluster added to this site this year. There is no hotel market at all within forty-five minutes.

Ozark and Enterprise both hold more inventory than their size suggests, because both sit in the orbit of Fort Novosel and their hotel markets run on military aviation traffic rather than on anything the university does. That independence is useful: it means they do not fill when Troy fills.
Montgomery is the deep option and carries the caveat above. It is also where Troy University’s other ceremonies happen, so if you book there, book it knowing which building you are driving to.
Greenville is the cluster’s best illustration of why straight-line distance misleads. It is the closest ring town after Montgomery at under fifty miles, and it is the second-longest drive at 77 minutes, because the route runs cross-country rather than along the interstate.

Why does the commencement page not show these dates?
Because it had not been updated when we checked on 16 August 2026. That page carried the spring 2026 ceremonies of 14 and 15 May and the summer round of 24 July, all in the past, with nothing for fall 2026 or spring 2027. The dates are published in the academic catalog instead. A university is not one publisher, and here the office that runs the ceremony is behind the one that prints the calendar.
Will we get a room in Troy for graduation?
Very likely for December. May 2027 measured eight against a control median of ten, a mild dip. The caution is absolute rather than proportional: eight properties is eight.
What if Troy is full?
You are driving at least 49 minutes. Nothing inside forty-five minutes of Troy has a hotel market. Ozark is 49 minutes with thirteen to fifteen properties, Enterprise 56 minutes with sixteen, and Montgomery 64 minutes with seventy or more. Greenville looks close on a map at under fifty miles and drives in 77 minutes, because the road runs cross-country.
