Troy University's homecoming is Saturday 7 November 2026, against Louisiana Tech at Veterans Memorial Stadium, the ground Troy calls The Vet. This is the weekend the town runs out. We ran five matched two-night searches and homecoming weekend returned four bookable properties in the whole of Troy, against control weekends of 10, 9, 10 and 9. That is roughly 42 per cent of a normal weekend remaining, sharper than the median graduation weekend anywhere on this site, and it is happening in a town that only has about ten places to begin with. There is no hotel market within forty-five minutes, so the fallback is Ozark at 49 minutes or Montgomery at 64. Kick-off time has not been announced.

The weekend Troy runs out

Most clusters on this site are graduation markets where homecoming is a secondary event. Troy is the other way round, and the measurement is unambiguous.

Five matched two-night searches in Troy, one session, 16 August 2026, two adults and one room throughout:

Window Bookable properties
16 to 18 October 10
30 October to 1 November 9
6 to 8 November (homecoming) 4
13 to 15 November 10
4 to 6 December 9

Four properties. Not four rooms, four whole properties with any availability at all, in the entire town, measured twelve weeks ahead.

Against a control median of nine and a half that is about 42 per cent of a normal weekend remaining. The median spring graduation weekend across this site leaves 46 per cent, so Troy’s homecoming squeezes its town harder than the average American commencement squeezes its own.

How the control weekends were chosen, because it changes the answer

This is worth explaining, because a careless version of this measurement would have found almost nothing.

Troy plays six home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium in 2026. In a town with ten hotels, every one of those weekends moves the market. Comparing homecoming against the weekends either side of it would have compared one home game against other home games, and the difference would have looked small.

So the four control weekends were picked to exclude every home fixture: 16 October (Troy away at Louisiana), 30 October (away at James Madison), 13 November (away at South Alabama) and 4 December (the Sun Belt championship, at a neutral site).

What that gives is a comparison between a homecoming Saturday and four genuinely ordinary weekends in the same town in the same season. That is the number above.

Homecoming is tighter than graduation, which is backwards

The same town, measured the same way, five weeks later:

Weekend Properties available Against control median
Homecoming, 6 to 8 November 4 9.5
Graduation, 10 to 12 December 11 10

Troy’s December graduation weekend measured slightly above its own controls. Its homecoming weekend measured at well under half.

The explanation is simply who travels. A Friday commencement brings the families of one graduating class into town for a morning. A home football Saturday against a new conference opponent brings alumni, visiting supporters and families all wanting the same Saturday night. Louisiana Tech joins the Sun Belt in 2026, so this is its first visit to The Vet, which is not a reason to expect a bigger crowd on its own but does make the fixture a novelty.

If you have to pick one Troy weekend to book early, it is this one, and it is not close.

Kick-off is unannounced, and plan accordingly

Troy’s published schedule lists the Louisiana Tech game as TBA, as it does for several other November fixtures. Kick-off times at this level are set by television partners a few weeks out.

That has one practical consequence. An afternoon kick-off and a night kick-off imply different travel: one lets a family from Montgomery drive home afterwards, the other does not. Until the time is published you cannot plan on the drive, which argues for holding the Saturday night rather than betting on an early game.

Troy’s schedule also carries a Tuesday night home game against Southern Miss on 6 October at 7:00 p.m., which is an unusual midweek lodging event for a town this size. It is not homecoming and this page does not cover it, but if you are travelling from any distance for that one, the same ten-property arithmetic applies.

There is no short hop

The thing that makes four properties serious rather than merely inconvenient is that Troy has no near neighbour.

Town Drive time Properties that weekend
Ozark, AL 49 min 13
Enterprise, AL 56 min 16
Montgomery, AL 64 min 71
Greenville, AL 77 min 6
Dothan, AL 78 min 31

Nothing inside forty-five minutes of Troy has a hotel market at all. The nearest option is Ozark at 49 minutes, and it held thirteen properties on the weekend Troy held four, because its inventory runs on Fort Novosel aviation traffic rather than on anything happening at the university.

Montgomery is where the depth is, at 64 minutes by road rather than the fifty its distance suggests. For a game with no announced kick-off time, an hour each way is a real commitment, and it is the reason this weekend rewards booking early more than any other on the cluster.

Frequently asked questions

When is Troy University homecoming 2026?

Saturday 7 November 2026, against Louisiana Tech at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Troy. Troy's own athletics schedule release names that fixture as homecoming and describes it as being at The Vet. We checked the weekday: 7 November 2026 is a Saturday.

What time is kick-off?

Not announced. Troy's published 2026 schedule lists the Louisiana Tech game as TBA, along with several other November fixtures, because kick-off times at this level are set by television partners a few weeks ahead. Plan on it being an afternoon or evening game and confirm nearer the date.

How hard is it to get a room that weekend?

Harder than for graduation, which is unusual and worth knowing. Five matched two-night searches on 16 August 2026 returned 10, 9, 4, 10 and 9 bookable properties, with the 6 to 8 November homecoming window the four. Against a control median of nine and a half that leaves about 42 per cent of an already small market.

Why is homecoming tighter than graduation here?

Because a home football Saturday brings more visitors to Troy than a Friday morning ceremony does, and they all want the same night. The same measurement run against Troy's December graduation window found eleven properties available, slightly above its own controls. One event fills the town and the other does not.

Where do we stay if Troy is gone?

Ozark first, at 49 minutes, which held thirteen properties on the weekend we measured. Enterprise is 56 minutes with sixteen. Montgomery is the deep option at 64 minutes with seventy-plus. Nothing at all inside forty-five minutes of Troy has a hotel market, so there is no short hop available.

Are other Troy home games worth planning around?

Troy plays six home games at Veterans Memorial Stadium in 2026, including a Tuesday night fixture against Southern Miss on 6 October that is a midweek lodging event in a town this size. Homecoming is the one that moved the market hardest in our measurements, and it is the one this page covers.
