One road, three hotels, 243 rooms
Lake Charles keeps its chain hotels along Prien Lake Road, which runs west from the McNeese campus toward the I-210 loop and the casinos. All three named here are within four miles of the arena.

A Friday with the hours still missing
The Fall 2026 table on McNeese’s commencement page is unusually candid. Rehearsals: “Thursday, December 17, 2026”, “Times [to be determined]”, Townsley Law Arena. Ceremonies: “Friday, December 18, 2026”, “Times [to be determined]”, same arena, “700 E. McNeese St. Lake Charles, LA 70607”. 18 December 2026 is a Friday.
The word to notice is ceremonies. McNeese runs more than one on the day and has not yet said how many or when. That is the difference between a family needing the Thursday night and a family driving in from Sulphur after breakfast, and it is not answerable today. Book the Thursday night, which the graduate needs anyway for rehearsal, and watch the page for the hours.
Graduates “must arrive 45 minutes prior to their ceremony”, which for an early slot means being on campus not long after eight.
No tickets, doors ninety minutes early
“Tickets are not required for guest admission.” That is generous and it has a consequence: nothing caps the number of guests, so seating is decided by arrival. “Doors open for guests 1½ hours prior to each ceremony.” A hotel four minutes away is worth more than a cheaper room twenty minutes out when the doors open at that hour.

The ring crosses a state line
Sulphur, 21 minutes west on I-10, is the nearest town with its own interchange hotels. Jennings, 48 minutes east, is small. Orange, Texas, 60 minutes, and Beaumont, 67 minutes with a full hotel base, are the Houston side of the drive.
