Duke's Commencement Weekend runs May 7-9, 2027. Both of Duke's own on-campus hotels, JB Duke Hotel and Washington Duke Inn, have replaced normal booking with a 2027 Graduation Reservation Waitlist. Their own terms: guests are contacted "no sooner than the spring of 2027," and even then, "there is no guarantee that the check in date, room type, or number of rooms will be available."

Not a booking — a waitlist

Duke’s two on-campus hotels aren’t taking normal graduation-weekend reservations at all. Both JB Duke Hotel and its sister property, Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club, run a 2027 Graduation Reservation Waitlist instead. You submit a request; you don’t get a confirmation number back.

What Duke’s own terms say

Straight from both hotels’ waitlist pages: “Guests can be expected to be contacted no sooner than the spring of 2027 to claim a waitlist reservation.” And even then: “There is no guarantee that the check in date, room type, or number of rooms will be available should you be selected from the waitlist.” Whatever room does come through is fully prepaid at booking, non-refundable, and non-cancellable — a four-night minimum for Thursday arrivals, three nights for Friday.

What it costs, if you get in

JB Duke Hotel starts at $735/night for a king room, climbing to $1,010/night for a suite. Washington Duke Inn starts at $780/night, up to $935/night for a suite — both real, published starting rates, not averages.

Availability was checked live via Google Hotels for a representative commencement weekend in July 2026; the tool returned prices in a non-US currency by IP geolocation, so we're reporting confirmed inventory and hotel tier rather than a converted dollar figure we can't stand behind.
