Indiana University's own commencement office marks Spring 2027 ceremonies as tentative: Graduate Commencement on Friday, May 7, at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, and Undergraduate Commencement on Saturday, May 8, at Merchants Bank Field at Memorial Stadium. The Biddle Hotel, inside the Indiana Memorial Union, is the only hotel actually on campus. Its commencement-specific reservation terms used to be published on its own site — two-night minimum, a deposit charged 30 days out, a five-day cancellation window — but that page is gone after a domain migration. Call ahead and get current terms in writing before you book.

The one hotel that’s actually on campus

The Biddle Hotel & Conference Center sits inside the Indiana Memorial Union, at 900 E 7th St — a few minutes’ walk from the Sample Gates and every ceremony venue on this page. It’s not a chain property with a graduation add-on; it’s IU’s own hotel, and that proximity is the entire reason it matters more than anywhere else in Bloomington, IN.

What we found, and what happened to it

Here’s the honest version. Searching for the Biddle Hotel’s commencement policy turns up specific, detailed terms: a two-night minimum stay for graduation weekend, a deposit for the full stay charged 30 days before arrival, and a window to cancel — up to five days out — before that deposit is forfeited. That’s exactly the kind of real, sourced scarcity signal this site exists to document.

The problem: when we went to confirm it directly on the hotel’s own site, the page was gone. The Biddle Hotel has since rebranded to iubiddlehotel.com, and the old commencement-reservations URL now redirects straight to a general homepage with no equivalent policy page. Google’s index still has the old text cached — which is how we found it in the first place — but a cached snippet isn’t the same as a currently-published policy, and we’re not going to present it to you as confirmed 2027 terms when we can’t verify it ourselves.

What that means for you

Treat those numbers — two nights, 30-day deposit, five-day cancellation — as the last policy we could confirm existed, not as this year’s rule. Call the hotel at (812) 856-6381 and ask directly what applies to your ceremony dates. If they quote you the same terms, you’ll know the policy survived the rebrand. If they quote something different, you’ll have the real, current answer — which is the whole point of calling instead of trusting a search snippet.

If Biddle is full, or you’d rather not gamble on an unconfirmed policy

Read sold out, now what for Nashville, Indiana — a genuinely charming 25-minute option with its own inns and B&Bs — and Columbus, IN, a real city with deep chain-hotel inventory 50 minutes out.

Availability was checked live via Google Hotels for the exact commencement weekend in July 2026; the tool returned prices in a non-US currency by IP geolocation, so we're reporting confirmed inventory and hotel tier rather than a converted dollar figure we can't stand behind.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a hotel actually on IU's campus?

Yes — the Biddle Hotel & Conference Center, inside the Indiana Memorial Union at 900 E 7th St. It's the only hotel physically on campus, which is exactly why its graduation-weekend policy matters more than any other single fact on this page.

What's the deal with the missing cancellation policy?

The Biddle Hotel's site used to have a dedicated page for commencement-weekend reservations, spelling out a two-night minimum, a full deposit charged 30 days before arrival, and a five-day cancellation window before you'd forfeit it. Google's search index still has that text cached. The hotel's live site — now rebranded to iubiddlehotel.com — no longer has an equivalent page. We don't know if the policy changed, if it's just been moved somewhere we haven't found, or if it's temporarily gone during the rebrand. We're not going to guess which.

So what should I actually do?

Call the hotel directly — (812) 856-6381 — and ask specifically what applies to 2027 commencement weekend: minimum stay, deposit timing, and cancellation terms. Get it in writing (email confirmation, not just a verbal answer) before you consider your room locked in.

When should I start trying to book?

Now, or as soon as your ceremony dates are confirmed rather than tentative. A single on-campus hotel with a documented history of deposit-and-forfeit terms for commencement weekend is not the kind of inventory that improves the longer you wait.
