What Middlebury has actually published for 2027

One sentence:

“Please save the date for Middlebury College’s 2027 Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 23, 2027.”

That is the whole of it. No venue and no start time.

The 2026 exercises were held at 10:00 a.m. on the Central College Lawn, and that is the reasonable expectation. Neither the venue nor the time is published for 2027, so both are the previous year’s arrangement rather than this year’s schedule.

The distinction matters more than usual here because the 2026 venue was outdoors on a lawn. If 2027 repeats that, weather is a live question and Middlebury has published no wet-weather plan for it. If the college moves indoors, it does not. Until the venue is announced, neither assumption is safe.

There is a second graduation, in February

Middlebury runs a separate Feb Celebration for its February graduates, and the 2027 event is dated:

Saturday 30 January 2027, 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Virtue Field House.

Note the page is titled “Feb Celebration 2027” despite falling in January, which is exactly the sort of thing that causes a family to book the wrong weekend. If your graduate is a Feb, this is your date and the May advice on this page does not apply to you.

What’s confirmed

Middlebury’s own commencement website confirms Commencement is Sunday, May 23, 2027, on the Central College Lawn, a real date pulled directly from the college’s official site. Main exercises begin at 10:00 a.m., with a procession starting at 9:50 a.m.

Where the ceremony happens

Central College Lawn, on Middlebury’s campus. A live broadcast is also shown indoors at Wilson Hall in McCullough Student Center, Dana Auditorium, and Middlebury Chapel for guests who prefer to watch inside.
