What’s confirmed
The University of Vermont’s own commencement website confirms 2027 Commencement ceremonies are Saturday-Sunday, May 22-23, 2027, on University Green, taken directly from the university’s official site.
A small lakefront market, a full class
Burlington’s hotel base is genuinely small. Guest reviews describe hotels selling out during UVM graduation weekend, with one traveler reporting paying $260 for a last-minute room “because had no other options this weekend in Burlington, Vermont, everything else sold out,” and other reports describing unusually strict cancellation and deposit policies specific to the weekend.
Where else to look
Plattsburgh, NY, about 75 minutes around Lake Champlain, and Montreal, roughly 100 minutes north with a border crossing, are the two real fallbacks.
If Burlington is out
The ring ladder below carries both.

The ring
| Town | Drive time | Typical availability | Rate vs. epicenter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Plattsburgh, NYCheck rooms in Plattsburgh, NY → | 75 min | A live per-night Google Hotels count wasn't obtained this session (the search tool's results page failed to load repeatedly). Plattsburgh is a real, separate New York city across Lake Champlain, about 75 minutes by road. | Broad chain-hotel tier; not independently rate-compared this session. |
| Montreal, QCCheck rooms in Montreal, QC → | 100 min | A live per-night Google Hotels count wasn't obtained this session. Montreal is a genuinely deep international metro, roughly 100 minutes north including a border crossing, real inventory, but requires a passport and standard border wait times. | Full metro range; not independently rate-compared this session. |
A live Google Hotels availability check, the method used for most other clusters in this project, could not be completed this session; the search results page repeatedly failed to load through our research tools. Ring-town availability here is described structurally rather than as a live count.
