UNH runs FIVE ceremonies across 20 to 22 May 2027, so the first question is which one is yours: four are in Durham's Whittemore Center, but the Law ceremony is at White Park in CONCORD, about 40 minutes away, and a law family booking Durham is in the wrong town. For the Durham four, UNH's own site says plainly, "It's never too early to make reservations for dining and lodging for Commencement weekend": try the Holiday Inn Express in Durham, or use Rochester or Manchester as fallbacks. Every graduate can claim up to four guest tickets.

What’s confirmed
UNH publishes a full 2027 schedule: five ceremonies across 20 to 22 May, each with a time. Four are in the Whittemore Center on the Durham campus, a venue UNH confirms for 2027 rather than leaving to inference.
One is not in Durham at all. The UNH Franklin Pierce School of Law ceremony is on Thursday 20 May at 4 p.m. at White Park in Concord, about 40 minutes away. If that is your graduate’s ceremony, the whole of this page’s Durham arithmetic is the wrong market for you. The ceremony logistics page has the full five-ceremony schedule and the four-ticket limit.
A town that absorbs nothing
UNH’s own guidance says plainly: “It’s never too early to make reservations for dining and lodging for Commencement weekend.” The same page tells guests to plan post-ceremony celebrations outside Durham for at least three hours after the ceremony starts, to avoid traffic, which is real evidence of how compressed this small town gets.
Where else to look
Portsmouth and Dover, the two Seacoast towns most guides would point to, don’t return a working map on our tool. Rochester, about 25 minutes north, and Manchester, NH’s largest city about 45 minutes away, are the substitutes.
If Durham is out
The ring ladder below carries both.

| Rochester, NHCheck rooms in Rochester, NH → | 25 min | A live per-night Google Hotels count wasn't obtained this session (the search tool's results page failed to load repeatedly). Rochester is a real, separate Seacoast-area city about 25 minutes north with its own chain-hotel base. | Broad chain-hotel tier; not independently rate-compared this session. |
| Manchester, NHCheck rooms in Manchester, NH → | 45 min | A live per-night Google Hotels count wasn't obtained this session. Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city, about 45 minutes away, with a genuinely deep hotel market of its own. | Full metro range; not independently rate-compared this session. |
A live Google Hotels availability check, the method used for most other clusters in this project, could not be completed this session; the search results page repeatedly failed to load through our research tools. Ring-town availability here is described structurally rather than as a live count. Portsmouth and Dover, the two towns closest to Durham and the ones most guides recommend, were dropped after every coordinate tested near both 404'd on our mapping tool.
