UC Riverside's commencement runs Friday 11 June to Monday 14 June 2027, from the university's own registrar academic calendar, which also ends the spring quarter on 11 June and runs finals immediately before it. The registrar attaches its own warning — "dates subject to change; check website for updates" — and the website it means is commencement.ucr.edu, which is where the exact dates, the per-college schedule and the venue will all be confirmed once it rolls over to 2027. Treat the registrar window as your planning range and that page as the final word. Two things you should know that most pages would quietly skip. First, the VENUE is not established: UCR's commencement site returned a server error on every attempt when this page was built, so it was never read, and no university page we could reach names a location. That is unknown, not unpublished, and it is the single thing to check before booking. Second, this window is not Riverside's alone — UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz graduate across exactly the same four days, and UC San Diego across two of them, because the quarter system puts them there. California demand is regional that weekend.

What’s confirmed

UC Riverside’s own registrar academic calendar gives commencement as “June 11-14, 2027”, adding “dates subject to change; check website for updates”. Both ends were weekday cross-checked: 11 June 2027 is a Friday, 14 June a Monday.

The same calendar ends the spring quarter on 11 June and runs finals 5-11 June, so the ceremony window falls immediately after finals — the internal consistency that tells you the row is describing the right year.

What is not established, and the difference that word carries

The venue. Not because UCR has declined to publish one, but because we could not read the page. Its commencement site returned an HTTP 503 server error on every attempt on 4 September 2026. The CHASS student affairs page mentions only “the Commencement ceremony scheduled for June 2027” and names no location.

Most sites in this position would fill the gap with last year’s venue from a search result. This one will not, and the reason is a distinction worth keeping: unpublished means the university has not said. Unknown means we could not find out. This is the second. A website being down is a fact about the website, not about the ceremony.

So: check commencement.ucr.edu directly. By the time you read this it has probably recovered, and it is the one thing standing between you and a confident booking.

That page is also where the registrar is pointing. Its caveat — “dates subject to change; check website for updates” — names a website, and this is the one. When it rolls over to 2027 it should carry the exact dates, the per-college ceremony schedule and the venue together. Until then, treat the registrar’s 11–14 June window as your planning range rather than the final answer.

The regional thing nobody tells you

The University of California runs on a quarter system, which pushes its commencements into the same narrow stretch of June. Confirmed from each university’s own calendar:

Campus 2027 commencement
UC Riverside 11–14 June
UC Irvine 11–14 June
UC Santa Cruz 11–14 June (registrar says 11–13)
UC San Diego 12–13 June

That does not mean Riverside’s hotels fill because Irvine’s are busy — these are different markets a long way apart. What it does mean is that the ordinary logic of a fallback town, demand is local, so the next city along is unaffected, is weaker across California in that particular week than it would be in May. If you are choosing between ring towns on price, check rather than assume.

Practical planning

Book two nights around your ceremony day, and wait for the per-college schedule before deciding which day that is — a four-day window puts three nights between a Friday ceremony and a Monday one.

Riverside itself is comfortable for supply. Moreno Valley is about twenty minutes, Corona and Ontario about twenty-five to thirty, San Bernardino about thirty, and all four are real cities rather than the single-motel fallbacks some campuses on this site have to offer.

One warning that has cost people real money: Ontario here is Ontario, California. Automated map and booking searches resolve that name to the Canadian province with some regularity.

Frequently asked questions

When is UC Riverside's 2027 commencement?

Friday 11 June to Monday 14 June 2027. UCR's registrar academic calendar lists Commencement as "June 11-14, 2027" with the note "dates subject to change; check website for updates". The same calendar ends the spring quarter on 11 June and runs finals 5-11 June, so the window sits directly after finals. Both ends weekday cross-checked.

Where will the ceremony be held?

Not established, and we would rather say that plainly than guess. UCR's commencement site returned HTTP 503 on every attempt on 4 September 2026, so it could not be read at all. The CHASS student affairs page says only that graduates are eligible for "the Commencement ceremony scheduled for June 2027" and names no venue.

Can't you just use last year's venue?

We could, and other sites will. But a site being DOWN is not a fact about the ceremony, and secondary sources are not the university. The distinction this page keeps is between unpublished — the university has not said — and unknown, which is what this is. Check commencement.ucr.edu directly; by the time you read this it will probably be back up.

Why does it matter that other UC campuses graduate the same week?

Because the usual assumption behind a fallback town is that demand is local, so the next city along is unaffected. In the second week of June that assumption is weaker in California than it looks: UC Irvine and UC Santa Cruz both run 11-14 June 2027 and UC San Diego 12-13 June, all confirmed from their own calendars. It does not fill Riverside's hotels by itself, but it is worth knowing before you assume a neighbouring market is quiet.

How many nights should we book?

Two around your ceremony day, and wait for the per-college schedule before choosing which. A four-day window means the difference between a Friday and a Monday ceremony is three nights, and none of that assignment was published when this page was built.

Is the date itself reliable?

Reasonably, with a caveat the registrar states itself: "dates subject to change; check website for updates". The internal consistency helps — the window falls immediately after the quarter ends and finals finish, which is where a commencement belongs — but this is a softer commitment than a published ceremony schedule would be.

Where will the exact dates be confirmed?

At commencement.ucr.edu, which is the "website" the registrar's own caveat points to. When it rolls over to 2027 it should carry the exact dates, the per-college ceremony schedule and the venue — the three things this page cannot yet give you. Check it before any non-refundable booking; the registrar's 11-14 June window is the planning range, not the final answer.
