CSU Homecoming and Family Weekend runs THURSDAY 1 TO SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER 2026, and the anchor is confirmed: Colorado State against OREGON STATE at Canvas Stadium, Saturday 3 October, KICKOFF 4 P.M. It is CSU's first official Pac-12 home game, which will pull a crowd beyond the usual homecoming draw. Book Friday and Saturday: Friday Night Lights carries the bonfire, pep rally and Lighting of the A, and a 4 p.m. Saturday kickoff finishes too late to drive home. Fort Collins holds 98 bookable properties and Loveland 45 twenty minutes south, so this is a rate problem rather than a rooms problem.

A confirmed kickoff, and a conference debut

Two things make this weekend easier to plan than most homecomings on this site, and one makes it busier.

The kickoff is confirmed. Colorado State against Oregon State, Canvas Stadium, Saturday 3 October, 4 p.m. No TBA, no waiting on a television window.

It is CSU’s first official Pac-12 home game. A conference debut brings a travelling support and a wider regional audience on top of the usual homecoming crowd, so the Saturday is heavier than a like-for-like homecoming in previous seasons would suggest.

And CSU runs Homecoming and Family Weekend as one combined event, which means returning alumni and current students’ families arrive on the same weekend rather than on two separate ones. Some universities deliberately split those to spread the load. CSU does not.

Book Friday and Saturday

The Friday is not a warm-up here.

Friday Night Lights carries the bonfire, pep rally and Lighting of the A, which is CSU’s signature tradition and runs into the evening. Before it, the 50 Year Club Luncheon and Festival on the Oval fill the day.

Then a 4 p.m. Saturday kickoff finishes around seven. That is too late to drive back to Denver comfortably and well past the point of going further. So the Saturday night is needed too.

Day What CSU lists
Thu 1 Oct Distinguished Alumni Awards
Fri 2 Oct 50 Year Club Luncheon · Festival on the Oval · Friday Night Lights (bonfire, pep rally, Lighting of the A)
Sat 3 Oct Homecoming 5k · Ram Walk Tailgate · Football vs Oregon State, 4 p.m.
Sun 4 Oct B/AACC Legacy Brunch

CSU publishes those events without individual start times beyond the kickoff, so none are invented here.

The rooms are there, the rate is the question

Where Drive Bookable properties
Fort Collins on campus 98
Loveland, CO 20 min 45
Longmont, CO 40 min 27
Greeley, CO 30 min 25

Fort Collins is a real city with a real hotel economy, so a Pac-12 debut does not empty it. What it does is move the price and take the walkable properties first.

Loveland at twenty minutes is the sensible pressure valve, and on a 4 p.m. kickoff a twenty-minute drive home at seven in the evening is entirely reasonable. Longmont is the pick if you are flying into Denver.

What is not established

Individual start times for the homecoming events beyond the 4 p.m. kickoff, which CSU had not published. Game-day parking and road closures around Canvas Stadium operate under CSU Athletics rules and were not verified here. Ticket prices were not recorded, since athletics sells them and they move.

No named Fort Collins property was confirmed sold out for the weekend. The counts are total bookable supply on the date checked, not a sellout claim.

Frequently asked questions

When is CSU Homecoming 2026?

Thursday 1 October to Sunday 4 October 2026. CSU runs Homecoming and Family Weekend as a single combined event, which means it draws current students' families and returning alumni at the same time rather than on separate weekends.

What time is the football game?

4 p.m. on Saturday 3 October, Colorado State against Oregon State at Canvas Stadium. The kickoff is already confirmed, which is unusual this far out and makes planning easier than on most homecoming weekends.

Why is this game bigger than a normal homecoming?

Because it is CSU's first official Pac-12 home game. A conference debut against a visiting Pac-12 opponent brings a travelling support and a wider regional audience on top of the usual homecoming crowd, so treat the Saturday as busier than a like-for-like homecoming in previous seasons.

Which nights should I book?

Friday and Saturday. Friday Night Lights, with the bonfire, pep rally and Lighting of the A, is the traditional centrepiece and runs into the evening. A 4 p.m. Saturday kickoff finishes around seven, which is too late to drive back to Denver comfortably and well past the point of driving further.

What else is on across the weekend?

CSU lists the Distinguished Alumni Awards on the Thursday, the 50 Year Club Luncheon and Festival on the Oval on the Friday, Friday Night Lights that evening, the Homecoming 5k and the Ram Walk Tailgate on the Saturday, and the Black/African American Cultural Center Legacy Brunch on the Sunday.

How tight is lodging?

Not tight in absolute terms. Fort Collins returned 98 bookable properties on a live check, with Loveland at 45 twenty minutes south. The pressure on a Pac-12 debut weekend shows up in price and in the good properties going first, not in the town running out.
