Dartmouth Commencement: Sunday 13 June 2027 on the Green

The date took some finding

Dartmouth’s Commencement is Sunday 13 June 2027.

That took slightly more work than it should have, and the route is worth recording for anyone verifying it later. The obvious address, commencement.dartmouth.edu, does not resolve at all. The date is on the Arts and Sciences registrar’s 2026-2027 key-dates calendar instead, listed simply as “June 13, 2027, Commencement” with no weekday attached.

So we checked the weekday ourselves rather than assume the traditional Sunday still held. It does: 13 June 2027 is a Sunday. That check exists on this site because a date carried forward from a previous year almost always fails it, and it has caught nine wrong dates so far.

The ceremony is on the Dartmouth Green, the open lawn at the centre of Hanover’s campus. Not a fieldhouse, not a stadium.

That has consequences an arena ceremony does not. Seating is on a lawn, sightlines depend on where you are standing rather than which section you booked, and mid-June in the Upper Valley can deliver bright sun or steady rain in the same week. Dartmouth had published no rain plan we could cite at this check, and an outdoor ceremony of this size has no indoor equivalent that could seat the same crowd, so the practical answer is to arrive prepared for both.

We also could not confirm a start time. It was not published when we looked, and rather than reprint last year’s we have left it out. It is the thing to check on Dartmouth’s own page before booking a Sunday flight home.

Getting to Hanover is the real logistics problem

Most of this project’s campuses sit near an airport. Dartmouth does not.

Hanover is in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, and the nearest airport with meaningful service is over an hour away. Lebanon Municipal in West Lebanon is eleven minutes from campus but small. In practice this is a driving cluster: families come up I-91 or I-89 and stay in White River Junction or Lebanon rather than in Hanover, because that is where the rooms are.

The upside of that geography is that the fallback towns are unusually close. Ten and eleven minutes is not a compromise. It is simply where the hotels are, and on a Sunday morning the drive in is short and uncomplicated.

What we checked, and what we could not

The date came from the registrar’s own calendar and the weekday was verified independently. The venue and the arrival context come from Dartmouth’s own commencement pages.
