Ferris State's academic calendar lists "Commencement May 7, 8" for Spring 2027, a Friday and a Saturday, with examination week running to the same Friday. Both weekdays check out, and the Spring 2026 round also ran Friday and Saturday, so the shape holds. The venue comes from Ferris's standing commencement location page, which states that ceremonies are held at the Ewigleben Sports Complex Convocation Center, Wink Arena; that is a general statement rather than a 2027-specific one, and this page says so. What is not published is the college-by-college schedule, which decides whether your day is the Friday or the Saturday. The fall round is Friday 18 December 2026. Parking is all campus lots per the same standing page, and Ferris streams its ceremonies on YouTube. Plan both May nights until the schedule posts; Big Rapids has three hotels and fills.

The calendar says two days
Ferris’s academic calendar carries Spring 2027 commencement as “Commencement May 7, 8”, sitting immediately after “Examination Week May 3 - May 7”.
7 May 2027 is a Friday and 8 May a Saturday. Ferris’s Spring 2026 ceremonies were also, in the university’s own words, “on Friday and Saturday”, so the calendar and the pattern agree. The last exam day and the first ceremony day are the same Friday.
Which colleges walk on which day is not published. That schedule is what turns “7, 8” into a single night for most families, and it is the thing to watch for.
The venue is stated, but as a rule rather than a date
This cluster has something most new clusters on this site lack: a venue on the record. Ferris’s commencement map and parking page states that “Commencement ceremonies are held at the Ewigleben Sports Complex Convocation Center (Wink Arena).” The Spring 2026 release describes a “packed Wink Arena”.
It is worth being precise about what that is. The location page is a standing statement about where Ferris holds commencement, not an announcement for May 2027. This site carries it as the venue because the university states it as the venue, and flags the difference so that if a 2027 schedule ever names another site, nobody is surprised.
Who walks in Big Rapids
Ferris’s Spring 2026 release noted a first: graduates of its Kendall College of Art and Design, based in Grand Rapids, walked alongside the Big Rapids classes, together with graduates from statewide Student Success Hubs and online programmes.
The practical point is that a ceremony in Big Rapids does not mean your graduate studied in Big Rapids, and a family in Grand Rapids may be driving an hour north for it. Check which ceremony your graduate has been assigned before booking near the wrong campus.
Parking and the stream, from the standing pages
Parking. The map and parking page: all campus lots are available, with Lot 8E holding designated accessible spaces and general parking on a first-come basis.
Stream. The commencement FAQ: “You can watch the ceremonies live on YouTube.”
Both are Ferris’s current general guidance rather than 2027-specific notices, and both are quoted rather than paraphrased for that reason.
December is a single Friday
Friday 18 December 2026, on the academic calendar, at Wink Arena per the standing page. No times published. If that is your round, the Thursday night is the one, and the town’s three hotels are on the where to stay page with their room counts.
Two nights, for now
Until the college schedule posts, hold the Thursday and Friday nights refundably and release one later. Big Rapids has three chain hotels within two miles of the arena, 299 rooms between them, and about 1,500 graduates walked in 2026. The town fills; the question is only which night you need.

Where is it held?
Wink Arena, the Ewigleben Sports Complex Convocation Center, per Ferris's commencement location page, which states that as where ceremonies are held.
