Moscow is better supplied than most college towns its size, and the reason is one building: the Best Western Plus University Inn on Pullman Road has 173 rooms and sits directly across from campus, four minutes from the Kibbie Dome. The Fairfield Inn and the La Quinta beside it add 74 and 76. The University of Idaho's own visit page then does the rest, pointing families to Pullman, seventeen minutes west across the state line, and Lewiston, fifty minutes south, for more. Both rounds are published: Saturday 12 December 2026 at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena, and Saturday 15 May 2027 in Moscow with times to come. No tickets are required for any ceremony. Book the Friday night now; add the Saturday if your sitting is the afternoon. And check Washington State's date before assuming Pullman is free.

One hotel changes the arithmetic
Most small college towns on this site have three hotels of sixty to eighty rooms. Moscow has those, and it also has the Best Western Plus University Inn, 1516 Pullman Road, 173 rooms per the Cvent venue directory, directly across the road from campus and about four minutes from the Kibbie Dome.
Beside it on the same road: the Fairfield Inn & Suites Moscow, 1000 West Pullman Road, 74 rooms per Northstar, and the La Quinta Inn Moscow Pullman, 185 Warbonnet Drive, 76 rooms. All three are within a mile of the dome.
323 rooms in three named properties. No matched-window availability series has been run for Moscow, so this page publishes no count of what remains on a ceremony weekend, and no graduate count was verified. What can be said is that the town starts from a stronger position than most.
The university points next door
The University of Idaho’s visit page does not list hotels. It says something more useful: explore lodging in nearby Pullman and Lewiston for more choices.
Pullman, nine miles and seventeen minutes west across the Washington line, is Washington State University’s town, with several branded hotels. Moscow and Pullman are one hotel market in practice. The one thing to check is WSU’s own commencement date, which falls in the same season; two universities graduating on the same weekend would empty both towns.
Lewiston, 32 miles and about fifty minutes south down the US 95 grade, is a regional city with an airport and a substantial hotel base. For a flying family it is the natural first night.
Cheney, nearly two hours north on the Spokane fringe, is the far edge of the ring and only sensible for anyone using Spokane’s airport.
Drive times are off-peak road routes to the Kibbie Dome computed on 13 September 2026, not measured journeys.
Both rounds are on the university’s page
Winter 2026: Saturday 12 December, sittings at 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the ICCU Arena, per the University of Idaho’s commencement page. The Friday night for the morning sitting; the afternoon families often add the Saturday.
Spring 2027: Saturday 15 May, in Moscow, per the same page. Times are not yet published. In 2026 the spring round ran 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the Kibbie Dome with colleges split by sitting, and the FAQ’s reference to seating for the Spring 2027 Moscow ceremonies points to the dome again; this page records that as expected rather than stated. Book the Friday night now.
No tickets are required for any ceremony, per the FAQ, which removes one of the usual reasons to wait.
Two things not to confuse
The University of Idaho also holds spring ceremonies in Boise and Idaho Falls. This cluster is the Moscow ceremony; a graduate assigned to Boise is a different trip.
And the Best Western’s map pin is absent from this page. Its coordinate returned 404 on Stay22’s embed endpoint on repeated tries, so the pin is omitted rather than moved a block; the hotel is real, and it is across the road.

Frequently asked questions
Which hotel is closest to the ceremony?
The Best Western Plus University Inn at 1516 Pullman Road, directly across from campus and about four minutes from the Kibbie Dome, with 173 rooms per the Cvent venue directory. The Fairfield Inn & Suites (74 rooms) and La Quinta (76) are a few blocks along the same road.
Does the university recommend hotels?
Its visit page does not name properties but tells visitors to explore lodging in nearby Pullman and Lewiston for more choices. That is the university's own overflow advice, and this page follows it.
Will Moscow sell out?
No matched-window availability series has been run for Moscow, so this page publishes no count. 323 rooms in three hotels is unusual depth for a town of 25,000, and Pullman is effectively the same market seventeen minutes away. The pressure here is moderate, not extreme.
Is Pullman a good idea?
Yes, with one check. Pullman has several branded hotels and is nine miles west. Washington State University holds its own commencement in the same season; confirm its date does not coincide before assuming Pullman's rooms are open.
Which nights?
December: the Friday night for the 9:30 a.m. sitting, and the Saturday too for the 2 p.m. one if you would rather not drive after. Spring: the Friday night, with times not yet published; 2026 ran 9:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Do we need tickets?
No. The university's commencement FAQ states that no tickets are required for any commencement ceremony.
Where do flying families land?
Lewiston, fifty minutes south, has the nearest airport and a substantial hotel base. Spokane is an hour and a half north; Cheney, on its fringe, is nearly two hours and the far edge of the ring.
