Huntington’s real distinguishing feature is geographic, and it works in your favour.
The city sits at the point where West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio meet. Ashland, Kentucky is about twenty minutes west across the Big Sandy; Charleston, the state capital, is roughly fifty minutes east. That is three separate state hotel markets inside a half-hour radius, a structural advantage almost none of the isolated college towns on this site have.
