Montana State Commencement: Friday 7 May 2027, Brick Breeden

Two rounds, and only one has a venue and a time

Friday 18 December 2026, Brick Breeden Fieldhouse Arena, 1 Bobcat Circle: morning processional 9:40 a.m., ceremony 10:00 a.m. Montana State’s page also asks guests not to save seats and requests, but does not require, that bags be left in vehicles because of the metal detectors.

Spring 2027 has two items on Montana State’s page: a Graduate Degree Ceremony on Monday 3 May 2027 and Undergraduate Degree Ceremonies on Friday 7 May 2027. That is genuinely all it publishes for them: no venue line and no time for either.

Brick Breeden is the obvious guess for the spring ceremony too, and it is not what the university says, so this page does not state one until Montana State publishes it.

Tickets are not required. Montana State states: “Tickets are not required for guest admission to the Commencement ceremony.”

One note for anyone verifying this themselves: montana.edu returns a 403 to a plain automated fetch. That is a fact about the client rather than the university, and the page renders normally in a browser.

Friday, which matters more than it sounds

A weekday ceremony reshapes the trip. Families flying in are generally looking at a Thursday arrival into Bozeman Yellowstone International and a Thursday night in town, because a Friday-morning arrival for a Friday ceremony leaves no margin at an airport with limited daily service. That is one more night of Bozeman lodging than a Saturday ceremony would require, in a market that is already the expensive part of this cluster.

It also means the return is a Friday evening or Saturday, which puts you into weekend flights either way. There is no version of this trip that avoids a weekend fare in one direction.

An indoor venue, which removes one worry

The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse is an arena on campus. Unlike the outdoor ceremonies elsewhere in this project, weather is not a planning variable here beyond getting to the building.

What we could not confirm is the spring start time. It was not published when we checked, and we are not going to carry over the December time or a previous year’s and present it as this year’s. That is the single most useful thing to look for on Montana State’s own page before booking a flight, because a morning ceremony and an afternoon one imply different Thursday decisions.

Early May is the season starting, not the season avoided

It would be reasonable to assume a May ceremony misses Bozeman’s tourist crush. The Chamber of Commerce’s own framing says otherwise: the visitor season it describes runs May through September.

So Commencement lands at the front edge rather than outside. The town is filling rather than full, which is better than August and considerably worse than March. Whatever you are going to book, the reason to do it early here is the calendar of a resort town, not the size of a graduating class.

The dates, the venue and the fall times come from Montana State’s own commencement page, read in a real browser on 17 October 2026 because the site returns 403 to direct automated fetching. The weekday was verified against the calendar independently of the university’s own label.

Not established for spring: the venue, the start time and parking. None was published at the time of this check, and all three are left off this page rather than reconstructed from a previous year.
