UM also publishes Autumn 2027 on 17 December and Spring 2028 on 6 May, which is further ahead than most universities covered here.
The venue column is the honest part. The Adams Center hosted UM’s spring 2026 ceremony and is very likely where these will be held too. That is exactly why this page does not print it. A venue carried forward from a ceremony that has already happened is the single most common way a family ends up outside the wrong building on the morning that matters, and UM has not stated one for either upcoming round.
The dates are on the calendar nobody opens
UM’s commencement pages, the ones you reach by searching for its graduation, still describe Spring 2026, down to the links to that ceremony’s recording.

Both pages are official University of Montana. They are maintained by different offices on different schedules, and neither is authoritative for the other. Anyone checking only the obvious page would conclude UM has announced nothing for 2027.
December is the near round, and UM does not call it winter
The next University of Montana ceremony is 11 December 2026, not the May one. UM labels it Autumn Commencement, which is worth knowing because it is not what most people type. A search for a Montana “winter commencement” or “fall graduation” will miss the page that actually carries it.
A Friday ceremony also shapes the trip differently from a Saturday one: it makes Thursday the arrival night, and it puts the drive home on a Friday evening in December, in a mountain town where that is a genuine weather question rather than a scheduling one.
Missoula does not tighten for this

Against a control median of 57, the ceremony window is 57. Flat to the property.
Missoula is a real regional market of around sixty properties, carrying Glacier and Yellowstone traffic in season and airline crews and business travel out of it. One December ceremony does not move it. Book early for the room you want and the rate you want, not because the last room is going.
Not Montana State, and the distinction costs a whole day
The University of Montana is in Missoula. Montana State University is in Bozeman, roughly three and a half hours east, and it runs its own commencement on its own dates.
The two are confused constantly, including by search engines, and the cost of the mistake is not a wrong hotel but a wrong city on the morning of a ceremony. If your graduate’s invitation says Bozeman, or mentions the Bobcats rather than the Grizzlies, you want the other university entirely.

Yes, every year, and UM calls it Autumn Commencement rather than winter or fall. That matters when searching: the nearest University of Montana ceremony is 11 December 2026, not the May one, and a search for "winter commencement" will not find it.
Is this the same as Montana State?
No, and it is the most common mistake on this cluster. The University of Montana is in Missoula. Montana State University is in Bozeman, about three and a half hours away, and graduates on its own separate dates. If your invitation says Bozeman or mentions the Bobcats, this is the wrong page and the wrong city.
Will Missoula be full?
