10:30 on the second Saturday

NMU’s Midyear Commencement is Saturday, December 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., in the Superior Dome. Date, time and venue all come from the university’s own commencement page.

What NMU does not publish on that page is a door-opening time, so we are not printing one. If you need it, the commencement office is the source — and it is the kind of detail worth having before a December morning rather than after.

The Dome is the venue and the landmark

The Superior Dome is NMU’s domed stadium and the most recognisable building in Marquette.

That sounds like colour rather than logistics, but it is genuinely practical for a family arriving in winter from somewhere else. You are not hunting for an unmarked campus hall on an icy morning — the venue is the thing on the skyline, on Presque Isle Avenue, and the nearest hotel is a few steps from its door.

For a 10:30 ceremony in mid-December, that walk is worth more than the difference in room rate. Snow in Marquette in the second week of December is not an unusual event; it is the expected one.

Nothing published past December

NMU’s commencement page carries the December ceremony and stops there. There is no spring 2027 date on it as of this check.

We have not filled that in with last spring’s ceremony. Elsewhere on this site we do carry a prior year’s date as an explicitly labelled reference where a university has published nothing at all — that pattern exists so a family planning far ahead has something to work from. Here the December ceremony is confirmed and is the one this cluster is about, so adding an older date alongside it would dilute the clear fact rather than add to it.

When NMU publishes spring 2027 it will appear at nmu.edu/commencement first. This cluster is scheduled for recheck before that becomes urgent.
