SNHU's next commencement is Fall 2026, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026 at SNHU Arena, 555 Elm Street in downtown Manchester, with four ceremonies across the two days. A separate virtual commencement follows on Saturday 5 December 2026 at 3 p.m. ET and needs no travel. Spring 2027 then runs Friday 30 April to Sunday 2 May with six ceremonies. In every round the ceremony you attend is set by your programme rather than your degree level, and that is what decides which nights you need. Two things catch families out: the arena is 3.6 miles from SNHU's own campus, so booking "near the university" puts you on the wrong side of the city, and each graduate gets six guest tickets with the deadline roughly two to three weeks beforehand.

The next round is November 2026, not spring
Most people arriving here are looking for 2027, so it is worth saying plainly: SNHU’s next commencement is Fall 2026, and it is close.
| Day | Time | Who walks |
|---|---|---|
| Saturday 14 November 2026 | 10 a.m. ET | Online undergraduate health professions, nursing and social sciences |
| Saturday 14 November 2026 | 3 p.m. ET | All campus programmes; online graduate programmes |
| Sunday 15 November 2026 | 10 a.m. ET | Online undergraduate liberal arts and STEM |
| Sunday 15 November 2026 | 3 p.m. ET | Online undergraduate business |
Virtual commencement: Saturday 5 December 2026, 3 p.m. ET. This is a separate ceremony rather than a replay of the arena rounds. SNHU premieres it on YouTube with the recording available afterwards, graduates register for it the same way to have their name announced, and it needs no travel, no tickets and no hotel. If your graduate is in the virtual ceremony, nothing else on this page applies to you, and that is a useful thing to establish early.
Spring 2027: six ceremonies, and the programme decides which one
SNHU’s spring 2027 commencement is not one event. It is six ceremonies across three days, two a day, all at SNHU Arena in downtown Manchester.
| Day | Time | Who walks |
|---|---|---|
| Friday 30 April 2027 | 10 a.m. | All campus programmes; online graduate education, liberal arts, social sciences and STEM |
| Friday 30 April 2027 | 3 p.m. | Online graduate business, counselling, health professions and nursing |
| Saturday 1 May 2027 | 10 a.m. | Online undergraduate business administration |
| Saturday 1 May 2027 | 3 p.m. | Online undergraduate business other than business administration; undergraduate STEM |
| Sunday 2 May 2027 | 10 a.m. | Online undergraduate social sciences |
| Sunday 2 May 2027 | 3 p.m. | Online undergraduate health professions, liberal arts and nursing |
Read that table before you book anything. The split is by programme, not by degree level, and it is not intuitive: online undergraduate business administration has a ceremony to itself on the Saturday morning, while the rest of online undergraduate business shares the Saturday afternoon with undergraduate STEM. Two graduates who would describe themselves as “SNHU business majors” can be walking a full day apart.
This is the whole booking decision. A family attending Friday at 10 a.m. needs Thursday night. A family attending Sunday at 3 p.m. needs Saturday night and probably Sunday too. They are different weekends at the same university, and the university does not have one answer for both.
The ceremony is not on campus
SNHU’s campus is at 2500 North River Road. The ceremony is at SNHU Arena, 555 Elm Street.
Those are 3.6 miles apart, computed from the two published addresses, and they are in different parts of Manchester: the campus sits north along the river, the arena sits in the middle of downtown. Nothing about commencement weekend happens on the campus itself.
That matters because the instinct at every other university on this site — stay near the campus — is wrong here. A hotel chosen for its proximity to SNHU is a fifteen-minute drive from the thing you flew in for, in the direction of morning traffic. The address to book against is 555 Elm Street.
The nearest full-service hotel to the arena is the DoubleTree at 700 Elm Street, about 980 feet away on the same road. That number is computed from the two published street addresses rather than taken from anybody’s marketing. Our where to stay page covers the rest of the city.
Almost everybody travels, and that is the real pressure
Most universities on this site draw heavily on families who already live nearby. SNHU does not have that population, because SNHU’s students do not live near SNHU.
The numbers are the university’s own. For its Fall 2024 commencement it reported more than 4,600 graduates and more than 22,000 friends, family and community members, from all 50 states and 58 countries. That was across three ceremonies. Spring 2027 runs six.
Manchester’s population is just over 100,000. It is a real city with a normal hotel market, not a college town that empties out, so this is not the kind of weekend where rooms simply run out. What it is, is a weekend where the small downtown core around the arena is doing something the rest of the year does not ask of it, and where the people competing for the closest rooms have all flown in and have no local fallback.
Tickets, doors and the Friday morning problem
Each graduate can reserve six guest tickets. A child aged three or under who will not use a seat does not count against that. Tickets are reserved by the graduate, not by guests, so the person to ask is the person walking.
The dates worth putting in a calendar are SNHU’s rather than a hotel’s. Registration opens roughly two months before commencement, which for the spring round SNHU puts at late February. Guest ticket reservations close roughly two to three weeks before the ceremony.
Guest doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony, and graduates are asked to arrive an hour ahead. Work that through for a 10 a.m. Friday ceremony and you get doors at 8.30 a.m., a graduate needed by 9, and a family crossing downtown Manchester inside the morning commute. The Friday sessions are the ones where staying within walking distance stops being a comfort and starts being a plan.
Parking, in SNHU’s own words
The arena does not operate a car park. SNHU points guests at the city instead, noting that Manchester has over 3,000 metered parking spaces and that downtown meters run 75 cents an hour.
It also gives a warning worth repeating verbatim: parking at local businesses, Market Basket included, “is not advised. Your vehicle will likely be towed.”
Accessible parking near the arena is first-come, first-served off Cedar Street, and the arena separately lists an accessible lot on Harry Theo Lane. SNHU asks for accessibility requests at least ten days before the ceremony.
The dates are published further out than almost anywhere
One genuinely unusual thing about SNHU: it has already published its schedule years ahead.
- Fall 2026: November 14-15, 2026, plus a virtual ceremony on December 5
- Spring 2027: April 30 to May 2, 2027
- Fall 2027: November 20-21, 2027
- Spring 2028: April 28-30, 2028
- Fall 2028: November 18-19, 2028
Most universities in this project have not published anything past the coming academic year, and a lot of them have not published the coming one either. If you are planning around a degree that finishes in 2028, SNHU is one of the few places where you can book against a real date rather than a pattern.
What we could not establish
The 2027 guest-ticket reservation dates themselves, as opposed to SNHU’s “roughly two to three weeks before” guidance. Registration for the spring round opens in late February 2027 and the exact deadline follows from that.
We could not establish SNHU Arena’s seating capacity from a primary source, so nothing here estimates how six ceremonies at six tickets each compares to the room available.
On lodging, SNHU states that it “has partnered with a number of local hotels to offer our guests year-round special, discounted rates” but does not publish which hotels those are, and adds that it “does not guarantee or manage room availability”. We could not establish a room count, a rate, or a commencement-weekend policy for any Manchester property, including the DoubleTree. Those are absent here rather than estimated, and the commencement office is the place to ask.

Frequently asked questions
When is SNHU's next commencement?
Fall 2026, on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November 2026, with four ceremonies across the two days at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. A separate virtual commencement premieres on Saturday 5 December 2026 at 3 p.m. ET. All the in-person ceremonies are at SNHU Arena, 555 Elm St., Manchester.
When is SNHU's 2027 commencement?
Friday 30 April, Saturday 1 May and Sunday 2 May 2027, with two ceremonies each day at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. All six are at SNHU Arena, 555 Elm St., Manchester. SNHU publishes the full schedule on its own commencement event schedule page, read at source on 23 August 2026.
Is the virtual commencement a real ceremony?
Yes, and SNHU schedules it as its own event rather than as a recording of the in-person one. The Fall 2026 virtual commencement is Saturday 5 December 2026 at 3 p.m. ET, premiered on YouTube with the recording available afterwards. Graduates register for it the same way, through the invitation sent to their SNHU email, to have their name announced. It needs no travel and no tickets, which is why it is listed separately from the arena rounds on this page.
Which ceremony is my graduate in?
It is set by programme, not by degree level, and SNHU lists it explicitly. Friday 30 April at 10 a.m. is all campus programmes plus online graduate education, liberal arts, social sciences and STEM. Friday at 3 p.m. is online graduate business, counselling, health professions and nursing. Saturday 1 May at 10 a.m. is online undergraduate business administration; at 3 p.m. it is online undergraduate business other than business administration, plus undergraduate STEM. Sunday 2 May at 10 a.m. is online undergraduate social sciences; at 3 p.m. it is online undergraduate health professions, liberal arts and nursing.
Is the ceremony on the SNHU campus?
No, and this is the single most useful thing on this page. SNHU's campus is at 2500 North River Road. Commencement is at SNHU Arena, 555 Elm Street, in the middle of downtown Manchester, 3.6 miles away. Nothing about the ceremony weekend happens on the campus itself, so a hotel chosen for its closeness to the university is not close to the thing you are attending.
How many guest tickets do we get?
Six. SNHU's own FAQ says a graduate can reserve up to six guest tickets, and that a child aged three or under who will not use their own seat does not need to be counted. Registration opens roughly two months before commencement, which SNHU puts at late February for the spring round, and the deadline for guest ticket reservations is roughly two to three weeks before the ceremony.
What time should guests arrive?
Guest doors open 90 minutes before each ceremony, and graduates are asked to arrive an hour before the start. For a 10 a.m. ceremony that means doors at 8.30 a.m. and a graduate who has to be there at 9. On a Friday morning that collides with downtown Manchester's commute, which is the part people underestimate.
Where do we park?
The arena does not run its own car park. SNHU points guests at the city, noting that Manchester has over 3,000 metered parking spaces and that downtown metered parking runs 75 cents an hour. SNHU also warns, in its own words, that parking at local businesses including Market Basket "is not advised. Your vehicle will likely be towed." Accessible parking sits off Cedar Street on a first-come basis, and the arena lists its accessible lot on Harry Theo Lane.
Can we watch if we cannot travel?
Yes. SNHU livestreams its commencement ceremonies from the commencement page, and runs a separate virtual commencement as a YouTube premiere. For the 2026 cycle that virtual event was Saturday 5 December 2026 at 3 p.m. ET.
What are SNHU's commencement dates after 2027?
Unusually for this site, they are already published. SNHU lists Fall 2027 as November 20-21 2027, Spring 2028 as April 28-30 2028, and Fall 2028 as November 18-19 2028. Most universities have not published anything past the coming year, so if you are planning several years out this is one of the few schedules you can actually work from.
How many people does this weekend bring into Manchester?
SNHU's own newsroom put it at more than 22,000 friends, family and community members for its Fall 2024 round, alongside more than 4,600 graduates drawn from all 50 states and 58 countries. That was three ceremonies. Spring 2027 is six. Manchester's population is just over 100,000.
