St. Lawrence's Commencement Ceremony is Sunday 23 May 2027, carried from an earlier reading rather than re-confirmed: the commencement site is still on the 2026 cycle. What that site does publish is the SHAPE of the weekend, and it matters more here than at most campuses because Canton has almost no hotel inventory. In 2026 the weekend opened on the Friday afternoon and closed on the Sunday with the ceremony at 10:00 a.m. in Newell Field House. A 10 a.m. Sunday ceremony at the end of a three-day weekend means most families need the Friday and Saturday nights. The university itself rents RESIDENCE-HALL ROOMS and RV PARKING for exactly those two nights, paid by card at registration and non-refundable after a stated date, which in a market this thin is a real option rather than a curiosity.

A Sunday ceremony at the end of a three-day weekend
St. Lawrence’s Commencement Ceremony is Sunday 23 May 2027. The weekday checks out. The commencement site is still on the 2026 cycle, so the date is carried from an earlier reading rather than confirmed today, and nothing contradicts it.
What the site does publish is the shape of the weekend, and that is the useful part. In the 2026 cycle: commencement weekend events began the afternoon of the Friday and concluded on the Sunday with the Commencement Ceremony and Reception, with the ceremony beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Newell Field House.
If 2027 keeps that shape, this is a three-day round ending in a Sunday morning ceremony, which means the Friday and Saturday nights rather than one night on the Saturday.
The university rents rooms, and here that matters
At most campuses on this site, on-campus lodging is a footnote. In Canton it is a genuine alternative.
St. Lawrence rents residence-hall rooms and RV parking spots for the Friday and Saturday nights of commencement weekend, through its own registration portal. Payment is by card at the time of registration, and charges are not refundable after a stated date in the published pattern.
That is worth acting on early. The North Country has very little hotel inventory, and a room on campus removes the drive entirely for a 10:00 a.m. Sunday start.
Clarkson is ten miles away and graduates earlier
Worth knowing because the two are often planned together.
Clarkson’s bachelor’s ceremony is Saturday 8 May 2027, two weeks before St. Lawrence, in Potsdam. Clarkson also holds a December ceremony that St. Lawrence does not. The two institutions share one thin lodging market but not a weekend, which is good news for anyone booking. Clarkson’s detail is on its own page.
What we checked
St. Lawrence’s commencement page was read on 19 August 2026. It is on the 2026 cycle and carries the weekend shape, the 10:00 a.m. ceremony time, Newell Field House and the residence-hall and RV registration arrangements quoted above.
Not published for 2027, and each a real absence: the venue, the start time, the weekend schedule, the housing registration dates, and any ticket or guest limit.

Frequently asked questions
When is St. Lawrence's 2027 commencement?
Sunday 23 May 2027. The weekday checks out, but St. Lawrence's commencement site is still on the 2026 cycle, so this date is carried from an earlier reading rather than confirmed today.
How long is commencement weekend?
Three days in the published 2026 pattern: events began the Friday afternoon and concluded on the Sunday with the ceremony and reception. If 2027 keeps that shape, a family attending the whole weekend needs the Friday and Saturday nights.
Can we stay on campus?
Yes, and in Canton that is worth taking seriously. St. Lawrence rents residence-hall rooms and RV parking spots for the Friday and Saturday nights of commencement weekend, booked through its registration portal and paid by card. Charges are non-refundable after a stated deadline.
Where is the ceremony held?
Not published for 2027. The 2026 ceremony was in Newell Field House at 10:00 a.m., which is the recent pattern rather than a confirmed 2027 venue.
Does Clarkson graduate the same weekend?
No. Clarkson is about ten miles away in Potsdam and its bachelor's ceremony is Saturday 8 May 2027, two weeks earlier, with a separate December ceremony before that. See the Clarkson page.
