Texas A&M Commencement: December 2026, May 2027, August 2027

December is the next one, and it splits by degree level

Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026, at Reed Arena. Texas A&M calls it Commencement and Commissioning, and it appears both on the registrar’s graduation schedule and on the fall 2026 academic calendar.

December is the nearer round, and it is the one to plan for first.

The structure is the thing to get right, because A&M does it differently from most universities on this site. It divides December by degree level, not by college:

Both sets run across the same two days. So a family with one bachelor’s graduate and one master’s graduate is not attending two ceremonies in one afternoon; they may well be attending on two different days.

The times are genuinely not published. The registrar prints “TBD” against every December ceremony, and adds that the determination of which colleges participate in which ceremony “is announced shortly after the deadline to apply for graduation without a late fee”. That is a real, dated absence rather than something we failed to find, and A&M explains why it exists: the registrar balances the ceremonies so each runs a comparable length, which cannot be done until the applications are in.

The practical consequence, in a market this tight, is to hold both nights and release one when the schedule lands.

Spring 2027, and the five colleges that leave town

The registrar’s academic calendar gives spring plainly: “Wednesday, May 12, 2027 through Saturday, May 15, 2027 / Commencement and Commissioning”. Four days. No ceremony-by-ceremony schedule yet, and no venue attached.

And then there is the fact that had never been recorded on this cluster and that changes which city some families book.

In May, five professional colleges do not graduate at Reed Arena. Texas A&M lists them by name, with venues, and only the dates are TBD:

Three of those are nowhere near the Brazos Valley. A family booking a College Station hotel for a Law graduate’s May ceremony has booked the wrong metropolitan area.

The mirror image matters too, and A&M states it: in August and December, those same candidates attend the main-campus ceremonies. So the college that sends you to Dallas in May brings you to College Station in December.

Summer 2027 exists, and nobody had looked

Thursday 12 to Saturday 14 August 2027, on the registrar’s summer academic calendar, under the same Commencement and Commissioning heading.

That round was missing from this cluster entirely, for the ordinary reason that nobody had opened the summer calendar. Times, venue and college assignments are unpublished.

Reed Arena, and what the door looks like

Texas A&M publishes its guest arrangements for commencement in one place, and they apply to the ceremonies generally rather than to a single round.

• No tickets, no assigned seats. Seating is first come, first served.
• Doors open at least one hour before each ceremony.
• Five entrances, of which three involve no stairs: the Main, North and East entrances. The other two have steps outside the building.
• Parking uses lots 100a to 100f and 100j plus the West Campus Garage. Lot 102 is reserved for disabled parking and 100g for special guests.
• Accessible seating for wheelchair users and mobility-impaired guests is first come, first served, with the top three rows of each section reserved and up to four family members permitted to sit alongside. Reed Arena also has an assistive listening system, through guest services near section 113.
• Clear bag policy, with medically necessary items screened separately and tagged at any entrance.
• Cameras are allowed, unusually, but not professional ones: no lens over three inches, no external flash, no interchangeable lenses, no tripods. Camera bags fail the clear bag policy, so the camera travels loose.

A note on sources

Until this audit, this page told you the dates could not be re-confirmed because Texas A&M’s registrar site returned 404 to every request.

That was a block, not an absence. registrar.tamu.edu refuses automated clients, and the pages are all there and current. Read through a text-extraction proxy, the graduation schedule, all three academic calendars and the individual college ceremonies page return in full, and that is where everything above comes from.

Worth recording because the failure mode is general: a university site returning 404 to a tool is not evidence that a ceremony is unpublished.

What we checked, and what we could not

Every date, venue and quotation above was read from Texas A&M’s own registrar pages on 17 August 2026, plus the university’s commencement guest page for the Reed Arena arrangements. Weekdays were checked independently: 11 December 2026 is a Friday, 12 December a Saturday, 12 May 2027 a Wednesday, 15 May a Saturday, 12 August 2027 a Thursday and 14 August a Saturday.

Not published:

• Start times for any ceremony in any of the three rounds.
• Which colleges sit in which December ceremony, until after the graduation application deadline.
• Any ceremony-by-ceremony schedule for May or August 2027.
• A venue for the May or August rounds. A&M names Reed Arena for December and describes it generally as the commencement venue; it has attached it to neither 2027 date.
• Dates for all six individual college ceremonies in May, all of which read “TBD”.
