TCU runs two rounds and the near one is fully specified. DECEMBER 2026 is Friday 18 December at 4 p.m. in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena — date, time and venue together on the university's own commencement page, and the weekday checks out. If that is your round there is nothing left to wait for. SPRING 2027 is "May 14-16, Fri.-Sun., Commencement Weekend" on TCU's academic calendar, also weekday-verified, but with no venue and no per-ceremony times published yet. One scheduling detail worth planning around: the same calendar runs final examinations to 14 May, so the spring weekend opens on the day exams finish — departing students and arriving families overlap on the Friday. And nothing here is walkable: TCU sits about five miles south of downtown Fort Worth, so every option involves a drive on the morning.

December is settled, and it is close
TCU’s own commencement page gives the December round in full: Friday 18 December 2026 at 4 p.m., in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. The weekday checks out.
Date, time and venue together is unusual on this site — most clusters at this range are missing at least the venue — and it means anyone in the December round can book today with nothing outstanding.
Spring 2027 is 14 to 16 May
TCU’s academic calendar records “May 14-16, Fri.-Sun., Commencement Weekend”. Both ends were cross-checked and the calendar’s own day labels agree with its dates.
A correction worth recording, because it nearly went on this page. A first pass drawn from a search summary reported the 2027 ceremony as “Friday, May 8th, 8:30 p.m., Amon G. Carter Stadium.” But 8 May 2027 is a Saturday. 8 May 2026 was a Friday. That was last year’s ceremony relabelled with this year’s number, and the weekday cross-check is the only thing that caught it.
The real window is 14–16 May, and no venue is published for it.
The Friday is doing two jobs
Here is the quirk in TCU’s own schedule. The academic calendar puts final examinations at “May 10-14, Mon.-Fri.” and Commencement Weekend at 14-16 May.
The Friday is both the last day of exams and the first day of ceremonies.
Both figures are the university’s own and this page records them as published rather than trying to reconcile them. What it means practically is that on that Friday the campus is carrying two populations at once — students finishing exams and families arriving — which is a parking and traffic consideration rather than a lodging one, but it is the kind of thing you would rather know in advance.
Nothing is walkable
TCU sits about five miles south of downtown Fort Worth, and there is no hotel cluster adjacent to campus.
That is a small fact with a large consequence: every option on this cluster involves a drive or a ride on the ceremony morning, so the question is not how close but how reliable. Downtown Fort Worth is the practical default at about twelve minutes. Arlington, out toward Dallas, is cheaper and about twenty-five.
The December round is a different trip
Two things that never apply to a May ceremony.
The holidays. Mid-December travel prices and fills on its own curve. The gap between booking now and booking in November is wider than the equivalent gap for a spring ceremony.
A 4 p.m. finish in December. The ceremony ends in the early evening with the light already gone. Most families will want the night of the ceremony rather than only the night before — which is the opposite of what a morning ceremony would call for.

Frequently asked questions
When is TCU's December commencement?
Friday 18 December 2026 at 4 p.m., in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena. TCU's own commencement page gives all three, and the weekday was cross-checked — 18 December 2026 is a Friday. This round is only months away and needs no further waiting.
When is the spring 2027 ceremony?
Commencement Weekend runs Friday 14 to Sunday 16 May 2027. TCU's academic calendar records it as "May 14-16, Fri.-Sun., Commencement Weekend", and both ends were weekday cross-checked against the calendar.
Where is the spring ceremony held?
Not published at this check. Do not carry Schollmaier Arena across from December — TCU has used a stadium for all-university ceremonies in the past, and an arena and a stadium are not interchangeable for planning seats, parking or weather.
Why does the spring weekend overlap finals?
Because TCU's calendar puts final examinations at "May 10-14, Mon.-Fri." and Commencement Weekend at 14-16 May. The Friday is both the last exam day and the first ceremony day. That is the university's own published schedule, recorded here as-is. Practically it means campus traffic and parking on that Friday are carrying two populations at once.
Is anything walkable from campus?
No, and that is worth knowing before you book on proximity. TCU is about five miles south of downtown Fort Worth and has no adjacent hotel cluster. Every option in this cluster is a drive or a ride.
Does December change the planning?
Two ways. It sits close to the holidays, so flights price and fill on a different curve than a May ceremony does. And a 4 p.m. Friday ceremony finishes in the early evening in December, which means most families will want the night of rather than only the night before.
How many nights for the spring round?
Two across the weekend, and wait for the per-ceremony schedule before choosing which. A three-day window means a Friday ceremony and a Sunday one need different nights, and that assignment was not published.
