UCF's next commencement is Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026 at the Addition Financial Arena on the main campus. Before you book flights, settle the tickets: UCF commencement is ticketed, each graduate who preordered regalia receives four guest tickets, and tickets are required for adults, children and infants alike. There is no lottery for extras, so a family of six cannot all sit in the arena. Guests without a ticket can watch a simulcast in the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center or the Student Union with no ticket needed. UCF had not published ceremony times or the college split for this round at the time of writing, and says final ticket allotments will be confirmed on 23 October 2026. Spring 2027 runs Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 May.

Settle the tickets before you settle anything else

Most universities on this site let a graduate invite whoever they like. UCF does not, and it is the fact that should shape this trip.

UCF commencement is ticketed. Each graduate who preordered regalia receives four guest tickets for their ceremony. UCF’s wording on who needs one is unusually explicit:

Tickets for adults, children and infants are required for admittance to the Addition Financial Arena.

An infant counts. A family of two parents, two grandparents and a sibling is already one over before anyone has booked a flight.

And there is no back door. UCF states plainly that there is no ticket lottery for additional tickets, and points graduates at each other instead. The only route to extras is on the day: graduates hand spare tickets in at the will-call box office, and forfeited ones are released first come, first served from two hours before the first ceremony, capped at two extra per graduate, with photo ID and the graduate’s name required. That is a real mechanism and people do get in that way. It is not something to buy a plane ticket against.

The four is provisional. UCF said final allotments “will be determined and published” on Friday 23 October 2026. Plan on four; check before you commit.

The simulcast is the answer for a big family

This is the part families work out too late, so here it is early.

Guests without a ticket can watch the ceremony live at a simulcast in the UCF FAIRWINDS Alumni Center and in the Student Union. No ticket required, seating first come first served, closed captioned, and both are on the same campus a short walk from the arena.

For a large family the honest plan is usually to split: four people in the arena, everyone else at the simulcast, and the whole group together for photographs outside afterwards. That is a much better weekend than four people attending and three staying at the hotel, and it costs nothing.

The dates are confirmed. The times are not, and that is genuine

Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026, at the Addition Financial Arena, 12777 Gemini Blvd N.

Both dates are confirmed on UCF’s own academic calendar. What is not published is the shape of those two days: UCF’s commencement page still heads its schedule “Coming Soon: Fall 2026 Ceremony Dates and Times”, so there is no per-ceremony hour and no college split to work from yet.

We are stating that as a genuine absence rather than a gap in our checking, and it is worth saying why we are confident. The page carrying that “Coming Soon” line loaded in full, and the ticket schedule, regalia deadlines and honours arrangements underneath it are all present and all dated. The schedule really is unpublished, not merely unreachable.

The practical consequence: you cannot yet tell whether your ceremony is Friday or Saturday, let alone morning or evening. With two days in play and no split announced, a travelling family is looking at both nights until UCF publishes.

Spring 2027 is Thursday 6 May to Saturday 8 May 2027, with degree conferral on Friday 7 May. Per-ceremony times are not published for that round either.

Getting into the arena

UCF publishes more guest-facing detail than most, and it is worth reading before the morning itself. All of it is a general statement about commencement at the Addition Financial Arena rather than a claim about a specific ceremony.

  • Doors open 60 minutes before each ceremony. UCF advises arriving about an hour ahead and warns to expect long lines and wait times.
  • Everyone is screened. A security check applies to all guests and graduates.
  • No re-entry. Once admitted, guests may not exit and come back in.
  • No backpacks of any kind, and no bag larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Anything that fails goes back to the car.
  • Prohibited: balloons, bottles, cans, containers, glass vases, alcohol, noisemakers, air horns, laser pens, silly string, confetti, flags, banners, signs and posters.
  • Cameras: one camera with a single lens no longer than six inches. Multiple lenses and camera bags are not permitted, and photography is not allowed on the floors, the stairways or near the stage.
  • Strollers cannot go into seating areas, but can be checked in the main lobby.
  • Most seating is general admission. Some is reserved for the platform party and doctoral families. Early arrivals get the choice, and a group wanting to sit together needs to arrive together.

And one small thing UCF flags itself, which matters more in Orlando than it would anywhere else:

Guests should be made aware that the temperature inside the Addition Financial Arena is much cooler than outside, and they should plan to bring a jacket or sweater.

You will queue in Florida warmth and then sit for two hours in air conditioning. Bring the layer.

Parking, access and the practical bits

Parking is free in the garages around the arena. Guests and graduates use Garage D and Garage H.

For guests who need step-free access: accessible parking is in Garages D and F. Garage D has accessible spaces on the ground floor; Garage F has an elevator and accessible access on all floors, which makes it the better choice if stairs are a problem. Mobility-impaired guests can be dropped at the front of the arena before the driver parks.

Inside, guests should use the main entrance, where an elevator on the west side of the lobby reaches the seating levels, and staff direct a guest and one companion to accessible seating. Note one rule that surprises people: a guest choosing to sit in the regular bowl rather than the accessible section has to check their walking aid.

UCF also provides an ASL interpreter, closed captioning on screens near the stage, and assistive listening receivers from Guest Relations on the main concourse in exchange for ID. First aid and lost property are on the main concourse too.

What we checked, and what we could not

Both December dates were confirmed against UCF’s own academic calendar on 18 August 2026, and the spring 2027 span against the spring calendar. Days of the week were checked independently: 11 December 2026 is a Friday, 12 December a Saturday, 6 May 2027 a Thursday and 8 May a Saturday. The venue and its street address were confirmed on UCF’s guests page. Every ticket, bag, parking and accessibility statement above was read from UCF’s own pages rather than paraphrased from a summary.

Not published, and each of these is a real gap rather than something we did not look for:

  • Ceremony times for either round, and the college or degree-level split that goes with them.
  • The confirmed guest-ticket allotment. Four is UCF’s stated plan, due to be settled on 23 October 2026.
  • Ceremony length. Nothing on UCF’s pages states how long a ceremony runs.

We have not measured hotel availability. Orlando is one of the deepest lodging markets in the country and the binding constraint on this weekend is arena seats rather than rooms, which is unusual and is the reason this page leads on tickets. Where to actually stay is on the graduation hotels page.

Frequently asked questions

When is UCF's next commencement?

Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026, at the Addition Financial Arena, 12777 Gemini Blvd N, Orlando. Both dates are confirmed on UCF's own academic calendar. UCF had not published per-ceremony times or the college split for that round at the time of writing; its schedule still read "Coming Soon".

How many guests can come to UCF graduation?

Four. Each graduate who preordered regalia receives four commencement guest tickets for their ceremony, and tickets are required for adults, children and infants. UCF states there is no ticket lottery for extras. Final allotments were due to be confirmed on 23 October 2026, so the figure can move, but plan on four.

Can we get extra tickets?

Only by chance, and only on the day. UCF runs no lottery. Graduates with spare tickets can hand them in at the will-call box office at the Addition Financial Arena from two hours before the first ceremony, and forfeited tickets are then released first come, first served, with a maximum of two extra per graduate. You need photo ID and your graduate's name. Do not build a trip around it.

What if some of our family has no ticket?

They can still watch it happen. UCF runs a simulcast in the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center and the Student Union, no ticket required, closed captioned, with seating first come first served. For a large family this is often the honest plan: four in the arena, everyone else at the simulcast, and the whole party together afterwards.

When do doors open, and what cannot we bring?

Doors open 60 minutes before each ceremony and UCF advises arriving about an hour ahead because of queues. No backpacks of any kind, and no bag larger than 12 by 6 by 12 inches. Balloons, bottles, cans, containers, glass vases, alcohol, noisemakers, air horns, laser pens, silly string, confetti, flags, banners, signs and posters are all prohibited. One camera with a single lens no longer than six inches is allowed; camera bags are not. Strollers cannot go into the seating areas but can be checked in the main lobby.

Can we leave and come back in?

No. Once admitted, guests are not permitted to exit and re-enter. Worth knowing if you have a toddler or someone who may need a break.

Where do we park?

Free, in the garages around the arena. Guests and graduates may use Garage D and Garage H. Accessible parking is in Garages D and F, and Garage F has an elevator serving all floors while Garage D has accessible spaces on the ground floor. Mobility-impaired guests can be dropped off in front of the arena before parking.

What are the spring 2027 dates?

Thursday 6 May to Saturday 8 May 2027, with the degree conferral date on Friday 7 May, per UCF's own spring academic calendar. Per-ceremony times for spring had not been published at the time of writing either.

Anything odd about the arena itself?

One thing, and UCF says it outright: the temperature inside is much cooler than outside. In Orlando in December that catches people out. Bring a jacket or a sweater even though you will be queueing in the warm.
