There is one hotel actually on UCF's campus, The Celeste, minutes from the Addition Financial Arena, and it is the only property that will feel close on the morning. Behind it sits one of the deepest hotel markets in the United States: downtown Orlando is about 15 minutes away and Kissimmee about 30, both with inventory that dwarfs anything a university calendar can move. So the booking problem here is not scarcity, it is choosing between paying campus-adjacent rates and driving 15 minutes. One thing that is genuinely scarce: arena seats. UCF caps guests at four tickets per graduate, so decide who is travelling before you decide where they sleep. UCF's next ceremonies are Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026.

One hotel on campus, and a metro behind it

The Celeste Hotel is the only hotel actually on UCF’s East Orlando campus, minutes from the Addition Financial Arena. On its own commencement page it says rooms for the weekend “will be filling up quickly”, which is the hotel’s own claim rather than an independent measurement, but it is the sort of claim that tends to be true of a single close-in property serving a very large graduating class.

That is the whole of the walk-adjacent market. Everything else is a drive.

The difference between UCF and most clusters on this site is what “everything else” means here. It means metropolitan Orlando: downtown at about 15 minutes and Kissimmee at about 30, two markets with hotel inventory built for theme parks and conventions rather than for a university. Neither notices a commencement.

This is a rate problem, not an availability problem

Most pages on this site are about scarcity. This one is not, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.

Option Drive What it is
The Celeste, on campus Minutes The only genuinely close hotel. Books up first
Downtown Orlando ~15 min Enormous, fully independent of UCF’s calendar. Restaurants on the doorstep
Kissimmee ~30 min Deep tourist-corridor supply, generally the cheapest of the three

Orlando does not run out of rooms because a university is graduating. What happens instead is narrower: the small number of properties immediately on or beside campus tighten and price up, while five miles away nothing has changed.

So the real question is what fifteen minutes is worth to you on the morning. If the answer is “a lot, because we have elderly guests and a 9 a.m. ceremony”, book the Celeste early and pay for it. If the answer is “not much”, downtown is a better weekend for less money, and you can spend the difference on dinner.

What actually limits your party is tickets

Worth putting on the lodging page, because it changes the booking rather than just the day.

UCF commencement is ticketed, at four guest tickets per graduate, and a ticket is required for adults, children and infants alike. There is no lottery for extras. Families routinely book rooms for eight and then discover four of them cannot enter the arena.

The workable shape is usually four people inside and the rest at UCF’s on-campus simulcast in the FAIRWINDS Alumni Center or the Student Union, which needs no ticket. That is a perfectly good weekend, but it is a different room booking from the one people make when they assume everyone gets in. Settle the tickets first. The detail is on the ceremony logistics page.

Book the Friday, because UCF has not told you which day is yours

UCF’s ceremonies are Friday 11 and Saturday 12 December 2026. What is not published is which day, or which hour, any given college walks: UCF’s schedule still reads “Coming Soon”.

That leaves you booking without knowing your ceremony, so book the night that covers the most outcomes. The Friday night works for a Friday evening ceremony and for a Saturday morning one. Add the Thursday only if you end up with a Friday morning slot, and the Saturday only if you end up with a Saturday evening one.

In a thin market that uncertainty would be a real problem. Here it is a mild one: hold what you need on free cancellation and drop the surplus once UCF publishes. In a market this deep, refundable inventory is easy to find and there is no meaningful risk of being left with nothing.

Spring 2027 runs Thursday 6 to Saturday 8 May, with the same caveat: no per-ceremony times published yet.

What we have not measured

We could not complete a live availability count for this cluster. The Google Hotels results page that we use for that check repeatedly failed to load for these coordinates, and rather than substitute a weaker source we are saying so.

It matters less here than it would almost anywhere else on this site. The claim being made is not “there are enough rooms in Orlando”, which would need measuring; it is that metropolitan Orlando’s hotel base is orders of magnitude larger than one university’s ceremony, which is true on any reading. Where a count would genuinely help is on the narrow question of how quickly the on-campus and campus-adjacent properties go, and that is exactly the number nobody publishes.

No UCF-area hotel we checked publishes commencement-specific minimum stays or cancellation terms. UCF’s own guidance to families is simply that reservations must be made directly with the hotel, and to ask about any commencement rate when you call.

Frequently asked questions

How close can we stay to the Addition Financial Arena?

The Celeste Hotel is on UCF's East Orlando campus, minutes from the arena, and it is the only hotel that close. Its own site says commencement rooms fill up quickly. Everything else is a drive, though not a long one by the standards of most clusters on this site.

Is UCF graduation weekend hard to book?

Not in the way most graduation weekends are. Orlando's hotel market is enormous and runs on theme-park demand rather than on UCF's calendar, so a university ceremony does not move it. The squeeze is concentrated at the handful of properties on or beside campus. If you want to be close, book early; if you are willing to drive 15 minutes, you have thousands of rooms to choose from.

Which nights should we book?

The Friday night covers most outcomes, because it works for a Friday evening ceremony and for a Saturday morning one. Add the Thursday if your ceremony turns out to be Friday morning, and the Saturday if it is Saturday evening. UCF had not published which day or hour any college walks at the time of writing, so hold what you need on free cancellation and release the rest once the schedule appears.

What actually limits our group size?

Tickets, not rooms. UCF gives each graduate four guest tickets and requires one for adults, children and infants alike, with no lottery for extras. Guests without a ticket can watch a simulcast on campus. It is worth reading the ceremony logistics page before booking for a large party.

Is downtown Orlando or Kissimmee better?

Downtown is closer, about 15 minutes, and better if you want restaurants within walking distance of your hotel. Kissimmee is about 30 minutes and generally cheaper, with a huge tourist-corridor hotel base. Neither is under any pressure from UCF's ceremony. Choose on price and on what you want to do with the rest of the weekend.

Where is the map centred?

On the Addition Financial Arena, where the ceremony is. It used to be centred on downtown Orlando because the arena's coordinate had been recorded as unusable on the booking map we use. We re-tested that on 18 August 2026 and it works, so the map now shows what is near the ceremony rather than what is near the city centre fifteen minutes away.
