Two days, read from two UMD pages

The registrar’s 2026-27 academic calendar has one row: “May 8 Saturday Commencement.” The commencement site’s homepage, read by this site at about 09:40 UTC on 20 September 2026, has the shape: “Graduate Ceremony - Friday May 7, 2027 Evening ceremony for all college UMD graduate program”, followed by “more details to come”, and “Undergraduate Ceremonies - Saturday May 8, 2027 10:00 AM College of Education & Human Service Pro[fessions]”, the first of a per-college list. 7 May 2027 is a Friday, 8 May a Saturday.

Later that day, and on every retry since, the commencement site returned 403 to every fetcher this site used. The per-college times after 10:00 AM were on the page; they were not captured, and this page does not reconstruct them.

No fall ceremony

Also from the homepage, read directly: “Please note that a fall ceremony is not held.” UMD’s December graduates walk in May. The Spring 2026 pattern on the registrar’s 2025-26 calendar was the same single Saturday, “May 9 Saturday Commencement”.

The DECC, as read by the research packet

UMD’s guest page, per the research packet behind this cluster, says: “All ceremonies will be held at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center (DECC) located in downtown Duluth.” The DECC is at 350 Harbor Drive, and the packet places the undergraduate ceremonies in its AMSOIL Arena. This site could not load the guest page itself. The venue is therefore carried as the packet’s quotation and not as this site’s own verification, and the February review’s first job is to read that page.

Whichever hall it is, the DECC sits beside Canal Park, which is why the where to stay page is about Canal Park’s three hotels rather than anything near the hillside campus.

What the guest page would have told you

Tickets, seating, parking, security, doors-open and the livestream all live on the page this site could not read. The packet’s summary of it, which is unverified here: tickets required for the undergraduate ceremonies with general-admission seating, DECC parking at a charge, doors opening 90 minutes before each ceremony, a livestream, and a warning that I-35 can be at a standstill before and after. Treat every item in that sentence as a question for your graduate rather than a fact from this site.

One night, downtown

The Friday night, in town by late afternoon for the graduate ceremony or by Saturday morning for the undergraduate ones. Canal Park’s Hampton Inn and Lift Bridge Lodge are within a mile of the DECC with 226 confirmed rooms and suites between them; the where to stay page has them and the ring across the bridge to Superior.
