Platteville is a small town in the corner of Wisconsin and its hotels are three chain properties within a mile and a half of Williams Fieldhouse: the Holiday Inn Express with 72 rooms, the Super 8 with 72 and the Country Inn & Suites with 49, about 190 in all. UW-Platteville graduated 1,037 in Spring 2026. What makes this cluster easier than most is that the university has already published Saturday 15 May 2027 down to the sitting: the College of BILSA at 9 a.m., EMS at 12:30 p.m., and LAE with associate and master's degrees at 4 p.m., all at Bo Ryan Court. Find your graduate's college and the night follows. Ceremonies are open to the public with no tickets. When Platteville is gone, Dubuque is 28 minutes west across the Mississippi with a river city's worth of rooms, and the same holds for the December round on Saturday 12 December 2026.

Three hotels, and the sitting is already known
Most lodging pages on this site have to say “hold both nights until the schedule posts”. This one does not. UW-Platteville has published its Spring 2027 round down to the hour, so the first thing to do is find your graduate’s college on the commencement page, and the second is to book the night that follows.
Holiday Inn Express & Suites Platteville, 55 South Elm Street. About a mile and three minutes from Williams Fieldhouse. 72 rooms per the Northstar directory.
Super 8 by Wyndham Platteville, 100 Highway 80-81 South. About a mile and a half and four minutes. 72 rooms. Budget tier.
Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, 630 South Water Street. A mile and four minutes. 49 rooms.
About 190 rooms. The Spring 2026 class was approximately 1,037 graduates. No matched-window availability series has been run for Platteville, so this page publishes no count of what remains; the ratio is enough.
The sittings, and the nights they make
Saturday 15 May 2027 at Bo Ryan Court, Williams Fieldhouse, three sittings:
9 a.m., College of BILSA. The Friday night. 12:30 p.m., College of EMS. The Friday night. 4 p.m., College of LAE, associate degrees and master’s degrees. The Friday, and for most families the Saturday too, because a 4 p.m. ceremony ends into the evening.
The college order changes by term, and 2027’s differs from 2026’s; the list above is the 2027 one from the university’s own event listing. Ceremonies are open to the public, no tickets. Parking lots are named on the commencement page.
Dubuque, and honestly nothing else
Dubuque, 28 minutes west on US 151 across the Mississippi, is a river city with lodging from casino hotels to chains and the nearest airport. It is where the overflow goes.
Monroe, 85 minutes east, and Middleton, 91 minutes toward Madison, are in the table for completeness; neither is a sensible drive before a 9 a.m. sitting. Freeport, Illinois, was dropped at 108 minutes.
Drive times are off-peak road routes computed on 14 September 2026, not measured journeys.
December is the same picture
Saturday 12 December 2026, the same three sittings in the same order at the same building, per the commencement page. Same three hotels, the holidays added.
Not claimed here
No commencement-specific hotel policy, because none of the three publishes one. No availability count, because none was measured. The university publishes no hotel list; the Platteville chamber’s page is the town’s own.

Frequently asked questions
Which hotel is closest to the fieldhouse?
The Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 55 South Elm Street, about a mile and three minutes from Williams Fieldhouse, 72 rooms per the Northstar directory. The Country Inn & Suites (49 rooms) and the Super 8 (72) are a minute further on the south side of town.
Will Platteville sell out?
No matched-window availability series has been run for Platteville, so this page publishes no count. About 190 rooms against 1,037 graduates across three sittings is the structure, and it argues for booking the week you read this.
Which night do we need?
It depends on the college, and UW-Platteville has published the assignments: BILSA at 9 a.m. needs the Friday night; EMS at 12:30 p.m. the Friday; LAE, associate and master's degrees at 4 p.m. the Friday and probably the Saturday. Same shape for December.
Where is the overflow?
Dubuque, Iowa, 28 minutes west on US 151 across the Mississippi, with a wide range of lodging from casino hotels to chains and the nearest airport. It is the only real option: Monroe and Middleton are 85 to 90 minutes.
Does UW-Platteville publish a hotel list?
No university list was found. The Platteville Area Chamber's lodging page lists the town's properties, including the three above.
Do we need tickets?
No. The commencement page states that all ceremonies are open to the public. Parking lots for Williams Fieldhouse are listed on the same page, and the ceremonies are live-streamed and captioned.
What about December?
Saturday 12 December 2026, same three sittings, same college order, same building, per the commencement page. Same hotels, and the holidays added.
