Stevens Point keeps its hotels together on North Division Street, a few blocks from campus: the Days Inn & Suites with 84 rooms, the Baymont with 49, and a Country Inn & Suites and a Comfort Suites across the street, all within a mile and three minutes of the Skyward Fieldhouse. UW-Stevens Point's commencement page sends guests to the local visitors bureau rather than naming any of them. More than 1,250 graduated in Spring 2026 from the university's three campuses, all walking in Stevens Point over three sittings. Two things make this cluster a little easier: the spring date is Saturday 22 May 2027, a week after most Wisconsin campuses, so the region's hotels are not also serving another commencement; and Plover, fourteen minutes south, adds several more. Wausau, 43 minutes north, has more than 2,200 rooms. Book the Friday night now; December's round is Saturday 12 December 2026 at 10 a.m.

One street, four hotels

Stevens Point’s chain hotels stand together on North Division Street, a few blocks north of campus and within a mile of the Skyward Fieldhouse.

Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham, 159 North Division Street. 84 rooms per the Cvent venue directory. Three minutes from the fieldhouse.

Baymont by Wyndham, 247 Division Street North. 49 rooms. Two minutes.

Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, 301 Division Street North, and Comfort Suites, 300 Division Street North, across the street from each other. Room counts were not confirmed in an English-language directory, so none are stated.

UW-Stevens Point’s commencement page names none of them. It says: “For help in planning travel for your guests, visit the Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitor’s Bureau website.”

The class, and the calendar

More than 1,250 graduates from the three UW-Stevens Point campuses walked in Spring 2026, per the university’s news, across three sittings at the fieldhouse. Graduates from the Wausau and Marshfield campuses come to Stevens Point for it.

The spring date is Saturday 22 May 2027, on the commencement page and the catalog calendar. That is a week after most of Wisconsin graduates, which matters for lodging: the region’s hotels are not also serving Madison’s, Whitewater’s or Platteville’s families that weekend.

No matched-window availability series has been run for Stevens Point, so this page publishes no count. The named inventory on Division Street is modest; the ring is what makes it work.

Plover, then Wausau

Plover, 14 minutes south on US 51, is effectively part of the Stevens Point market with several chain hotels of its own, a Hampton Inn and a Comfort Inn among them. The first place to look when Division Street is full.

Wisconsin Rapids, 30 minutes southwest, is a small city with its own inventory.

Wausau, 43 minutes north on I-39, has more than 2,200 rooms and 22 hotels per its visitors bureau, and is home to one of the university’s branch campuses. The overflow with depth.

Marshfield, 47 minutes west, home to the other branch campus, rounds out the ring.

Drive times are off-peak road routes to the Skyward Fieldhouse computed on 14 September 2026, not measured journeys.

The nights

The Friday night, for either round. Spring 2026’s sittings ran 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; a late sitting in 2027 may add the Saturday, and the 2027 sittings are not yet published. December’s single ceremony is at 10 a.m. on Saturday 12 December 2026. No tickets are required for either; the university recommends a maximum of six guests per graduate.

Not claimed here

No commencement-specific hotel policy, because none of the four publishes one. No spring 2027 venue; the Skyward Fieldhouse is stated for December and hosted Spring 2026, and is not assumed for May. No availability count, because none was measured.

Frequently asked questions

Which hotels are closest?

All four are on North Division Street within a mile of the Skyward Fieldhouse: the Days Inn & Suites (84 rooms per Cvent), the Baymont (49), the Country Inn & Suites and the Comfort Suites, the last two without a confirmed count. Two to three minutes by road.

Does UW-Stevens Point recommend hotels?

Its commencement page says: "For help in planning travel for your guests, visit the Stevens Point Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau website." No named list, no block.

Will Stevens Point sell out?

No matched-window availability series has been run, so this page publishes no count. Four hotels, two of them with 84 and 49 rooms, against more than 1,250 graduates over three sittings is the structure. Plover and Wausau are the relief.

Why is the date later than other Wisconsin campuses?

UW-Stevens Point's Spring 2027 commencement is Saturday 22 May, per its commencement page and the catalog calendar; most of the state graduates on 15 May. It means the regional hotels are not also serving another university that weekend.

Which night do we need?

The Friday night. Spring 2026 ran three sittings at 9:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., so a late sitting may add the Saturday; 2027 sittings are not published. December's single 10 a.m. ceremony needs the Friday night only.

Where is the overflow?

Plover, 14 minutes south, with several chain hotels including a Hampton Inn. Wisconsin Rapids, 30 minutes. Wausau, 43 minutes north, with more than 2,200 rooms per its visitors bureau. Marshfield, 47 minutes.

Do we need tickets?

No. The commencement page says there are no tickets and recommends a maximum of six guests per graduate. Winter 2026 guidance; spring rules to follow.
