One ceremony, eleven colleges, no tickets

WSU’s next commencement is Saturday 12 December 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in Beasley Coliseum, and unusually for this site, the university publishes essentially everything a family needs.

Date, weekday, start time, venue, running length and the full list of colleges attending are all on WSU’s own ceremony schedule. Eleven colleges go through a single sitting: agricultural, human and natural resource sciences; arts and sciences; business; communication; education, sport and human sciences; the environment; engineering and architecture; medicine; nursing; veterinary medicine; and pharmacy.

The ceremony runs about two hours and closes with student recognitions and the turning of tassels.

The non-ticketed policy, and what it means for you

Here is the part worth reading twice, because it cuts both ways.

WSU’s commencement is non-ticketed, and graduates may invite unlimited guests. Nobody is rationing seats. There is no awkward conversation about which grandparent gets the twelfth ticket, and no scramble for returns.

For your family that is straightforwardly good. For the town it is the reason this weekend is hard: the number of people who need a bed in Pullman is not capped by an allocation, only by how many relatives decide to travel. The one exception to the December date

If your graduate is finishing a veterinary degree, the date above may not be yours.

WSU lists a Spring DVM ceremony separately, with its date still to be determined at the time of this check. It is the only ceremony carved out of the single December sitting, and there is nothing to book against for it yet.

Spring 2027 exists as a date and nothing more

WSU lists 8 May 2027 under future spring ceremony dates. That is the whole entry.

No time, no venue, no college split. The date is genuine and worth putting in a calendar; the rest of the day is not published, and this page is not going to fill it in from the December ceremony’s details.

A note for anyone cross-checking: 8 May 2027 is a Saturday. Summaries of WSU’s schedule have rendered both future spring dates as Wednesdays, which is wrong on both counts, and it is the sort of thing that quietly ruins a flight booking.

What we checked, and what we could not

Every specific on this page comes from WSU’s own commencement ceremony schedule, read on 7 August 2026. The weekday was cross-checked independently against the calendar: 12 December 2026 is a Saturday, matching WSU’s own label. That check exists because a date carried forward from a previous year almost always fails it, and it has caught nine wrong dates on this project. Here it also caught an invented weekday in a summary of the source, which is a newer failure mode and the same one that produced a false spring date for Florida State.

What we could not establish: doors-open and seating times, parking arrangements at Beasley Coliseum, the Spring DVM ceremony date, and any timing detail for the May 2027 ceremony. None had been published when we checked, so they are absent rather than inferred.
