The University of Arizona's commencement is Friday 14 May 2027 at 7:30 p.m., and the single most important thing about it is where: Casino Del Sol Stadium, not the campus. The resort's own directions are "Exit I-19 West at Valencia Road and then go 6 miles west", and it puts itself about fifteen minutes from downtown Tucson — so a hotel chosen for its walk to campus is a drive across the metro on ceremony night, in the dark, after a 7:30 p.m. start. Book for the stadium, or book downtown and accept the drive knowingly. One caution that belongs at the top rather than buried: the university publishes this date as "subject to change" AND carries a separate site-wide notice that all dates and times are subject to change. Two hedges on one page is the university telling you this is provisional. Re-check before anything non-refundable.

What’s confirmed
The University of Arizona’s own commencement site gives Friday 14 May 2027 at 7:30 p.m., at Casino Del Sol Stadium. The weekday was cross-checked: 14 May 2027 is a Friday, so the site’s day label and its date agree.
The thing almost everyone gets wrong
The ceremony is not on campus. Casino Del Sol Stadium is at 5655 W Valencia Rd, on the far south-west edge of the Tucson metro. The resort’s own directions are “Exit I-19 West at Valencia Road and then go 6 miles west”, and it describes itself as “just a short fifteen-minute drive from downtown Tucson” — and campus is on the far side of downtown from there.
That single fact reorganises the whole trip. A hotel picked because it is walkable to the university is, on ceremony night, a drive across the metro. In the dark. After a ceremony that starts at 7:30 p.m. and will not end early.
What to do about it
There are three honest options and they suit different trips.
Stay at the stadium. Casino Del Sol Resort shares the address with the venue, so you walk to the ceremony. In a market this large it is also the only genuinely scarce room in the story — a metro of Tucson’s size will not run out of hotels, but the one hotel at the ceremony can. If this is the option you want, it is the first call you make, not the last.
Stay downtown and drive. The compromise, and the right one if you are also spending time on campus. About fifteen minutes to the stadium by the resort’s own reckoning, and the deepest inventory in the city.
Stay near the airport. Dull, but it is on the same side of the city as the stadium, which makes it a better fit for this ceremony than it looks — particularly if you are flying in and out around the date.
What we would not do is book north. Oro Valley and Marana are real markets with real inventory, but they are the wrong direction entirely, and the drive back from a 7:30 p.m. ceremony is long.
Read the date with the caveat attached
The university publishes 14 May 2027 as subject to change, and carries a separate blanket notice that all dates and times on the page are subject to change. Two independent hedges on the same page is not boilerplate — it is the university signalling that this is provisional.
The date is real and it is published, and it is the best information anyone has. It is simply softer than most records on this site, and a non-refundable booking made months out carries that risk. Re-check before you commit.

Frequently asked questions
When and where is Arizona's 2027 commencement?
Friday 14 May 2027 at 7:30 p.m., at Casino Del Sol Stadium, 5655 W Valencia Rd. Both the date and the venue are published on the university's own commencement site, and the weekday was cross-checked: 14 May 2027 is a Friday.
Why does the venue matter so much here?
Because it is not on campus, which is the opposite of what almost everyone assumes when booking a graduation trip. Casino Del Sol sits on the far south-west edge of the metro. The resort's own location page gives the directions as exiting the I-19 west at Valencia Road then driving six miles west, and describes itself as about fifteen minutes from downtown Tucson. Campus is on the other side of that.
Can we stay at the ceremony venue?
Yes — Casino Del Sol Resort shares the address with the stadium, so it is the only property that puts you at the ceremony rather than driving to it. That also makes it the one genuinely scarce option in an otherwise large market, so it is the first thing to book, not the last. We could not confirm its room count at source, so this page does not claim one.
How reliable is this date?
Less than most on this site, and we would rather say so. The university marks the entry "subject to change" and separately states that all dates and times on the page are subject to change. The date is real and published; it is just explicitly provisional. Treat a non-refundable booking made a long way out as carrying that risk.
Does a 7:30 p.m. start change how many nights we need?
Yes. An evening ceremony on the far edge of the metro means nobody is driving home afterwards, and nobody is flying out that night either. Plan on staying the Friday night at minimum, and the Thursday too if you are arriving from any distance.
What about tickets and parking?
The university keeps guest information, parking and stadium entry on separate pages that were not captured when this page was built, so nothing is claimed about them here. Check them directly before you travel — a venue like this has its own entry rules that the university does not set.
