Duke’s own commencement office now publishes the specific day, the specific time and the venue:
“The university-wide commencement ceremony will be held Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 9:00 a.m. in Wallace Wade Stadium.”
Duke published only the weekend until recently, so if you have seen a vaguer date elsewhere, this is the specific one.

Why a 9:00 a.m. Sunday matters more here
Nine in the morning is an early start anywhere. On this cluster it is a logistics problem, because most families are not staying in Durham.
Durham holds 97 bookable properties for the commencement window against 157 to 172 on the weekends either side, and Duke’s own two campus hotels are not taking bookings at all. So the realistic bases are Raleigh at 30 minutes, Cary at 25, Burlington at 33 or Greensboro at 55. Add stadium parking and getting seated, and a 9:00 a.m. ceremony from Raleigh is a departure before seven on a Sunday.

The weekend has two separate ceremonies to track
The university-wide ceremony on the Sunday is the one with the date above. It is not usually the one where your graduate’s name is read.
Duke’s structure puts individual recognition in separate school and department ceremonies spread across the weekend. Those are the ones that determine when you actually need to be where, and Duke has not published the 2027 schedule for them yet. Its own guidance is that fuller detail arrives in January 2027 and that specific questions should go to the individual school or department.
If your graduate’s school ceremony lands on the Friday or Saturday, your weekend starts earlier than the Sunday date on this page implies. Ask them in January, before you book flights.
Absent rather than estimated

Tickets. No guest allocation or ticketing policy for the 2027 university-wide ceremony. Wallace Wade is a football stadium and the main ceremony has historically been open, but stadium capacity is not a published policy and we are not going to present it as one.
Weather. No 2027 severe weather or rain plan. Wallace Wade is open air. Practice varies enormously between universities, from moving indoors to cancelling outright, so this is worth asking rather than assuming.
