Fayetteville State's winter commencement page reads "Commencement: Friday, December 11, 2026, 10:00am", "Felton J. Capel Arena", "Fayetteville State University". 11 December 2026 is a Friday. The same page sets the door rule: "The processional will begin promptly at 9:45am. No guests will be allowed to enter during the processional. All guests should make plans to be seated prior to 9:45am. Students should arrive at the Capel breezeway by 8:30 Friday morning." Rehearsal is "Thursday, December 10, 2026 at Capel Arena at 2:00pm", and "Commencement will also be streamed live on the FSU Commencement webpage." Parking information had not been published at this check; the page gives 910-672-1775 and events@uncfsu.edu for questions about commencement, rehearsal and tickets. Spring 2027 is not published on any FSU page this site could read. Read on 23 September 2026.

One Friday morning in Capel Arena
FSU’s winter commencement page puts the essentials in three lines: “Commencement: Friday, December 11, 2026, 10:00am”, “Felton J. Capel Arena”, “Fayetteville State University”. 11 December 2026 is a Friday. One ceremony, one venue, one morning.
The rule that decides your travel
“The processional will begin promptly at 9:45am. No guests will be allowed to enter during the processional. All guests should make plans to be seated prior to 9:45am.”
Universities usually ask guests to arrive early. FSU says the door closes, and it closes fifteen minutes before the advertised 10:00am start. Read that as a 9:30 arrival at the latest, in a city whose hotels are ten to fourteen minutes from campus and whose morning traffic runs around Fort Bragg.
Graduates have their own clock: “Students should arrive at the Capel breezeway by 8:30 Friday morning.”
Thursday belongs to the rehearsal
“Commencement rehearsal will be Thursday, December 10, 2026 at Capel Arena at 2:00pm.” A graduate who travels in on Friday morning misses it. For most families that settles the booking: the Thursday night, in town.
Streamed, for the people who cannot come
“Commencement will also be streamed live on the FSU Commencement webpage.” With a hard door at 9:45am and no published ticket allowance, the stream is worth telling relatives about before the day rather than after.
Parking and tickets are the two open questions
On parking, the page says only that FSU “will share important parking information” as the ceremony approaches, with 910-672-1775 for questions. On tickets it states no rule at all; it points questions about “Commencement, rehearsal, tickets, etc.” to the Special Events team at events@uncfsu.edu.
One thing worth knowing if you find older FSU commencement material: the clear-bag policy, the “tickets will NOT be required” line and the Washington Drive overflow shuttle belong to the undergraduate ceremony in the Crown Coliseum, a city arena FSU uses in spring. December is in Capel Arena on campus, and those rules are not restated for it.
No spring 2027 date here
The registrar’s 2026-2027 academic calendar PDF returned 404 when this page was built, and no live FSU page carries a May 2027 commencement date. This cluster ships on December alone, and the November review chases the spring dates. The where to stay page has the four hotels and the ring.

Frequently asked questions
When is FSU's winter commencement?
Friday 11 December 2026 at 10:00am, per the university's winter commencement page read on 23 September 2026. 11 December 2026 is a Friday.
Where is it?
Felton J. Capel Arena on the Fayetteville State campus, named on the same page. Graduates report to the Capel breezeway by 8:30 that morning.
What time should guests arrive?
Before 9:45am, and earlier is safer. "The processional will begin promptly at 9:45am. No guests will be allowed to enter during the processional. All guests should make plans to be seated prior to 9:45am."
Is there a rehearsal?
Yes: "Commencement rehearsal will be Thursday, December 10, 2026 at Capel Arena at 2:00pm." That is why the graduate needs the Thursday night as well.
Do we need tickets?
The winter page states no ticket rule. It directs questions about "Commencement, rehearsal, tickets, etc." to the Special Events team at events@uncfsu.edu. Treat a limit as possible until your graduate hears otherwise; the spring ceremony in the Crown Coliseum is the one that publishes a no-ticket rule, and it is a different building.
Where do we park?
Not published at this check. The page says FSU "will share important parking information" as the ceremony approaches, and gives 910-672-1775 for questions. Allow more time than the drive suggests.
Is it streamed?
Yes. "Commencement will also be streamed live on the FSU Commencement webpage."
When is the spring 2027 ceremony?
Not published on a page this site could read. The registrar's 2026-2027 academic calendar PDF, the only source offered for May 2027 dates, returned 404 on 23 September 2026.
