Bethlehem is one of the easier markets on this site
Measured in one session on 12 August 2026, across five matched three-night windows:
| Window | Bookable properties |
|---|---|
| 7 to 10 May 2027 | 77 |
| 14 to 17 May 2027 | 76 |
| 21 to 24 May 2027 (commencement) | 70 |
| 28 to 31 May 2027 | 79 |
| 4 to 7 June 2027 | 76 |
The commencement window is the lowest of the five, by about nine percent. That is a real effect and a small one.
The reason is that Lehigh is not in a college town. The Lehigh Valley is a conurbation of several hundred thousand people, and Allentown and Easton are each about twenty minutes away with roughly 27 and 26 further properties between them.

What’s confirmed
Lehigh’s own academic calendar confirms Graduate Commencement and Doctoral Hooding on Saturday 22 May 2027, with Undergraduate Commencement the next day, Sunday 23 May 2027. Those dates come straight from the university’s official calendar. The VENUE does not: Lehigh has published no 2027 venue, and the 2026 ceremonies were at Goodman Stadium.
A hotel that’s sold out before
Lehigh’s own alumni events office has directly reported the Hyatt Place Bethlehem sold out for Family and Founder’s Weekend, another big campus weekend, and lists named backup hotels for visitors when it happens. That is institutional evidence of how tightly Bethlehem’s hotel base can run on a big Lehigh weekend, though note it describes Family and Founder’s Weekend rather than commencement, and the measured commencement window is comfortable.
A shared regional squeeze
Bethlehem sits in the Lehigh Valley alongside Lafayette College’s own graduation season in nearby Easton, compounding demand across the region rather than isolating it to Lehigh’s own crowd.
If Bethlehem is full
Allentown and Easton are in the ring table below.
