Penn's own commencement site confirms the 271st Commencement is Monday 24 May 2027, in Franklin Field. This is an unusually well-documented cluster: Penn publishes the date AND the venue for 2027, where most universities on this site have published neither. The detail that changes your booking is the MONDAY. Nearly every graduation runs Friday to Saturday and families reserve the weekend from habit, but a Monday ceremony means the night to hold is the SUNDAY, and a conventional weekend booking checks out the morning before. Penn also states live coverage begins at 9:00 a.m., which makes this a morning event even though Penn has not published the ceremony start time itself. Franklin Field is open-air and no wet-weather plan is published.

It is a Monday, and that decides your nights
Penn’s ceremony is on a Monday, which almost no family books for by default.
Nearly every graduation on this site runs Friday to Saturday, so the weekend gets reserved out of habit. A Monday ceremony means the night you actually need is the Sunday, and a conventional graduation-weekend booking has you checking out the morning before.
Penn also states that live coverage begins at 9:00 a.m., which tells you this is a morning event even though Penn has not published the ceremony’s own start time. A morning start on a Monday makes the Sunday night effectively compulsory for anyone travelling.
Yale graduates the same day, which matters more than it sounds: two large universities in the northeast corridor drawing families on the same Monday.
