The date is solid. The rest of it is not published yet.

Saturday 22 May 2027. Skidmore confirms it twice, which is more than most colleges on this site manage: the registrar’s 2026-2027 academic calendar prints “May 22 Saturday Commencement”, and the commencement schedule page lists “2027 - Saturday, May 22”.

That is where the certainty stops.

No start time is published for 2027. The 2026 ceremony began at 10:40 a.m., which is an oddly specific hour and not one to assume repeats.

No venue is published for 2027 either. Skidmore held its 2026 Commencement at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Spa State Park. Every page naming that venue is describing 2026: the commencement FAQ opens by welcoming families to “the College’s 115th Commencement Exercises on Saturday, May 16, 2026”. The registrar’s calendar, which is the only source that carries the 2027 date, lists it with no venue at all.

SPAC is very probably the answer. It is not published, so this page does not print it as fact.

The two events that were missing from this cluster

Both are on Skidmore’s own registrar calendar, and both change when a family travels.

Honors Convocation and Academic Festival, Thursday 6 May 2027. That is more than two weeks before Commencement. For a family whose graduate is being recognised there, it is a separate trip, and it falls in the middle of the week rather than on a weekend.

Senior Week, Monday 17 to Friday 21 May 2027. It ends the day before Commencement weekend begins. Skidmore published a full slate of named senior events for the 2026 version, from Senior Fun Day through to Cordapalooza and the Senior Final Jam, but nothing equivalent for 2027 yet.

The lodging consequence of Senior Week is worth stating plainly: the town is already busy with Skidmore families before the commencement weekend starts. If your graduate wants you there for part of that week, you are looking at a longer stay in a resort town in late May, not a two-night weekend.

No December round, and this one is genuinely confirmed

Skidmore’s academic calendar runs from “December 19 Sat Fall Semester Ends” through to “January 26 Tues Classes Begin”, and in between it lists fall grades due, two separate incomplete-grade deadlines and the spring registration dates.

No conferral. No ceremony. Nothing.

That is a positive absence rather than a search that came up empty. A calendar granular enough to date incomplete-grade submissions would not quietly omit a graduation ceremony. Skidmore is a small liberal-arts college that holds one Commencement a year, in May.

How Skidmore ran it last time

None of this has been reissued for 2027, and it is labelled here as what it is: the arrangements for the May 2026 ceremony. Expect the same class of arrangement and check the specifics when Skidmore publishes them.

• No tickets. Skidmore stated that seating for more than 5,000 in the SPAC amphitheatre made it possible to accommodate all guests.
• No reserving seats. With heavy attendance, parties were asked to arrive together and staff would ask for seats to be released if they were being held with coats or signs.
• Guests arrived from about 9 a.m. for a 10:40 a.m. start, specifically to seat a whole party together.
• Mandatory security screening on every entry, with bag inspection and metal detectors.
• Rain or shine. The ceremony went ahead regardless of weather.
• Accessible parking was limited and first come, first served, with no spaces held. Courtesy golf carts ran from the Route 50 Lot to the amphitheatre via a drop-off at the Sun Dial by the Route 50 main entrance, and wheelchairs were not provided, so guests brought their own.

One thing worth having if you are navigating. The address “108 Avenue of the Pines” circulates for this venue and appears on no Skidmore page. Skidmore’s own guest guidance for 2026 was to use the Route 50 Lot at 400 Ballston Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866 on Google Maps, or to search “Saratoga Performing Arts Center Box Office” on Apple Maps. Again: 2026 guidance, for a venue not yet confirmed for 2027.

What we checked, and what we could not

The date, Honors Convocation, Senior Week and the absence of a December round all come from Skidmore’s registrar academic calendar PDF, read on 17 August 2026. The future-date list and the 2026 detail come from the commencement schedule page, the guest arrangements from the commencement FAQ. The weekday was checked independently: 22 May 2027 is a Saturday, matching both Skidmore sources.

Not published for 2027: the start time, the venue, any rain plan, any Baccalaureate event, the named Senior Week events, and ticket or seating arrangements.

Not measured: hotel availability. The ceremony is nine months out, and a single reading at that range is one uncontrolled observation rather than a measurement. What the Saratoga Springs market actually does to a graduation weekend is on the where to stay page.
