December, with the hour and the building

SRU’s commencement page states the fall round in one sentence: “Saturday, December 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Morrow Field House.”

12 December 2026 is a Saturday. Date, time and venue from the university. The same page states that ceremonies will not be postponed or delayed due to inclement weather, and that overflow viewing areas and a livestream are provided.

Spring, split by degree, on a calendar that may change

The 2026-2027 academic calendar carries two lines:

“Friday, May 7 | Commencement at 6:00 p.m. for all Graduate students (Masters and Doctorate).” “Saturday, May 8 | Commencement for all Undergraduate students.”

7 May 2027 is a Friday and 8 May a Saturday. The split is the university’s own, and it matches 2026, when SRU ran four ceremonies across 8 and 9 May at Morrow Field House for more than 1,600 graduates.

Two cautions, both from the source. The calendar gives no undergraduate times and no venue. And it states that all of its dates are subject to change. The dates are recorded here as published; lodging for spring belongs on cancellable rates until the commencement office confirms them.

Tickets

In Spring 2026, electronic tickets were required for entry and each graduate was provided with up to four guest tickets, per SRU’s news. The 2027 allocation is not posted. Four is the planning number for a family, not a promise.

The nights, and the town that cannot hold them

A 6 p.m. Friday graduate ceremony needs the Friday night. A Saturday undergraduate ceremony needs the Friday night and, if it runs late, the Saturday. December’s 11 a.m. ceremony needs the Friday.

Slippery Rock’s own accommodations page lists one chain hotel, a 12-room inn and a motel. Butler and New Castle, each half an hour, are where families stay, and the where to stay page says so plainly.
