Two lines on the registrar’s calendar
SUNY Cortland’s 2026-27 academic calendar lists the weekend as two entries: “Graduate Commencement | Friday, May 14” and “Undergraduate Commencement | Saturday, May 15”.
14 May 2027 is a Friday and 15 May a Saturday. The calendar’s labels agree with the dates. Two ceremonies types, two days, one weekend, and the university’s own FAQ makes the last point explicit: “SUNY Cortland has only one Commencement weekend annually.” No December round exists to be confused with it.

The graduate ceremony was Friday at 7 p.m. The undergraduates were split into three Saturday ceremonies, A at 9:30 a.m., B at 2:30 p.m., C at 7 p.m., assigned by school. All four were in the Park Center Alumni Arena, and the FAQ explains why the venue is indoors: erratic and unreliable spring weather.
1,531 seniors applied to graduate, and the university anticipated more than 5,000 guests.
The nights follow the sitting
A Friday-evening graduate ceremony needs the Friday night. A Saturday-morning undergraduate ceremony needs the Friday night. A Saturday-evening one needs the Saturday too. Which of A, B or C is yours for 2027 is not yet published, so the plan is Friday firm and Saturday refundable.
Tickets and the prohibited list
In 2026 each undergraduate was allocated a maximum of four guest e-tickets; the graduate ceremony did not require tickets. The family and friends page carries a list of items strictly prohibited at all SUNY Cortland Commencement ceremonies, bags and backpacks among them. Parking is east of the Park Center via the Tompkins Street entrance, per the parking page. All of this is 2026 guidance as read on 14 September 2026; the 2027 versions will replace it.
The town cannot hold the weekend
