Two years, two months

Amherst publishes its homecoming weekends well ahead, and the two it currently lists do not sit in the same month:

• Homecoming 2026: October 23 to 25, a Friday to Sunday
• Homecoming 2027: November 12 to 14, also a Friday to Sunday

Roughly three weeks separate them. That is the single most useful fact on this page, because the ordinary way to plan a repeat visit is to look at when it fell last time and assume the same slot. Do that here and you will be holding rooms in late October 2027 for a weekend the college is holding in the middle of November.

What is not fixed yet

For 2026 the college has committed to the dates and to very little else. Its alumni page carries the weekend and a line saying more details will be posted in August, so the schedule, the times and the football fixture were still outstanding when this page was checked.

Booking is the part you can act on now. The programme will follow, and it will not change which nights you need.

Where the rooms are

Hotel UMass, roughly 112 rooms at 1 Campus Center Way on the neighbouring UMass Amherst campus, is the closest hotel to Amherst College. It publishes no homecoming-specific policy that we could confirm.

Northampton, about 20 minutes away, is the usual second look. It carries Smith College and its own autumn trade, so it is a genuine alternative rather than a quiet one. Springfield, about 30 minutes out, is the deepest pool in the valley and the least tied to any campus calendar.

An autumn weekend in the Pioneer Valley is not a quiet one in general. Leaf season overlaps October here, and it competes for exactly the rooms a homecoming visitor wants.

The 2026 schedule, including start times and the football opponent, had not been published when this page was checked.

Amherst names no venue for the weekend as a whole, which is ordinary for a campus-wide event, so the map on this page is anchored on the college itself rather than on a building we cannot source.

No hotel in the ring was confirmed to run a homecoming block, a minimum-stay rule or a cancellation deadline. We also did not obtain a live per-night availability count for these towns in this pass, so the ring below is described by drive time and market rather than by a count.

The reason for the 2027 move to November is not stated by the college, and we have left it unexplained rather than guessed at it.
