Commonwealth University is three campuses in three towns, and the first question is which one your graduate walks at, because they are 68 and 94 miles apart. Bloomsburg is the largest, nearly 1,200 graduates in Spring 2026, and its named hotel is the Hampton Inn with 70 rooms, seven minutes from Nelson Field House. Lock Haven's is the Fairfield Inn with 65, two minutes from Thomas Fieldhouse. Mansfield's is the Microtel with 73, two minutes from Straughn Auditorium. None of those towns can hold its own ceremony, so the overflow is the real plan: Berwick and Hazleton for Bloomsburg, Williamsport for Lock Haven, Williamsport or Corning and Elmira for Mansfield. December is stated by campus, 11 and 12 December 2026. Spring 2027 is 7 to 9 May on a calendar marked subject to change, so book spring only on a cancellable rate.

First, which town

Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania is the merger of Bloomsburg, Lock Haven and Mansfield universities, and it still graduates the way three universities would: each campus holds its own ceremonies in its own town. Bloomsburg to Lock Haven is 68 miles. Bloomsburg to Mansfield is 94. A family that books the wrong town has booked the wrong ceremony.

This page is anchored on Bloomsburg, the largest campus, and states the other two alongside it.

One hotel per town

Bloomsburg. Hampton Inn Bloomsburg, 255 Papermill Road. About two and a half miles and seven minutes from Nelson Field House, the 2026 venue. 70 rooms per the Cvent venue directory. Bloomsburg had nearly 1,200 graduates in Spring 2026, per the university’s news.

Lock Haven. Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Lock Haven, 50 Spring Street. Under a mile and two minutes from Thomas Fieldhouse. 65 rooms. More than 400 graduates in 2026.

Mansfield. Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Mansfield, 90 Dorsett Heights. Half a mile and two minutes from Straughn Auditorium. 73 rooms. More than 150 graduates in 2026.

No matched-window availability series has been run for any of the three towns, so this page publishes no count. Seventy rooms against 1,200 graduates does not need one. In all three towns the overflow is the plan, not the fallback.

The overflow, by campus

For Bloomsburg. Berwick, 22 minutes east along the river, is the nearest town of size and small. Hazleton, 43 minutes southeast on I-80, has several national-chain hotels and is the first real depth. Wilkes-Barre, 57 minutes northeast, is a large regional market. Williamsport, 64 minutes west on I-80 and US 15, is the fourth option.

For Lock Haven. Williamsport is about half an hour east and is the default; it has substantial branded lodging.

For Mansfield. Williamsport is 40 miles south. Corning and Elmira, across the New York line, are 24 miles north and have their own hotels.

Drive times are off-peak road routes to Nelson Field House, Bloomsburg, computed on 13 September 2026, not measured journeys. The map on this page is anchored on Bloomsburg.

December is stated; spring is flagged

December 2026 is on the university’s commencement page by campus: Friday 11 December for Bloomsburg’s graduate ceremony, and Saturday 12 December for Bloomsburg undergraduate, Lock Haven and Mansfield. Locations and times are “TBD”. Book December now.

Spring 2027 is one row on the academic calendar: *“Commencement | Friday, May 7 - Sunday, May 9”**, and the asterisk resolves to “Subject to change.” No campus has a published schedule inside that window. In 2026 Bloomsburg ran a Friday-evening graduate ceremony and three Saturday sittings by college; Lock Haven a Friday evening and two Saturday sittings; Mansfield two on the Saturday.

The flag is the instruction. Book spring rooms only on a cancellable rate. With one hotel per town the temptation is to lock in early and firm; against a date the university has said may move, lock in early and refundable instead.

Rules the university states for all three

The commencement page says tickets are required for guests at all ceremonies, that a clear-bag policy is strictly enforced on all campuses, and that parking details live on each campus’s own ceremony page. Standing statements as read on 13 September 2026; the 2027 specifics will follow the schedule.

Why cancellable only for spring?

Because the university's academic calendar lists Spring 2027 commencement as "Friday, May 7 - Sunday, May 9" with an asterisk that means subject to change, and no campus schedule has been published. December is stated by campus and can be booked freely.
