A nine-day week with a two-night weekend in it

FSU announces homecoming as a span: “Homecoming Week 2026: November 13 – 21”. Nine days. Almost nobody books nine days, and reading that range as a lodging window is the fastest way to book the wrong end of it.

Look at where the dated events actually sit. The Emeriti Alumni Society Homecoming Reunion runs Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November. The three alumni tailgates FSU has published, for the Pride Alumni Network, the Veterans Alumni Network and Women for FSU, are all on Saturday 21 November at Doak S. Campbell Stadium. The homecoming game is that Saturday.

Now look at the other end. On 13 November, the opening day of homecoming week, FSU is playing at Pitt. The team is in Pennsylvania. Whatever is happening on campus that weekend, it is not a home football crowd filling Tallahassee’s hotels.

So the bookable weekend is Friday 20 to Sunday 22 November, and that is the window this page passes to the map. The reunion’s own Sunday finish is the reason the checkout is Sunday rather than Saturday morning: people at a Saturday game with a Sunday programme do not leave at dawn.

The bigger squeeze is six days later

If you have any flexibility, this is the part worth knowing, and it runs against how a homecoming weekend is usually described.

FSU hosts Florida on Friday 27 November, six days after homecoming, at 3:30 p.m. It is the rivalry game, it is at home, and it falls on the day after Thanksgiving. FSU’s own ticket marketplace prices the difference plainly: the homecoming game against NC State opens at $48, while Florida opens at $132, the same floor as the Clemson game on 31 October.

That is a ticket resale figure rather than a hotel figure, so treat it as a demand signal and not a room rate. But it points the same way as the calendar does. Tallahassee has two home football weekends inside seven days in late November, and the second one is the one carrying rivalry demand into a holiday travel week.

For a family booking homecoming, that is good news and it is the honest headline: you are booking the easier of the two. For anyone whose dates could slide a week, do not assume the later weekend is a quieter alternative. It is the opposite.

What FSU has not put out yet

Everything dated on this page comes from FSU’s own homecoming site and its athletics schedule, both read on 11 August 2026.

Several things families ask about are simply not published yet, and we would rather list them than fill them in. There is no kickoff time for the 21 November game. There is no parade route or time, and no Pow Wow details, despite both being long-standing parts of FSU homecoming. The homecoming site’s schedule currently carries only the reunion weekend and the three tailgates, with everything else routed to the university events calendar. Tailgate start times are not given.

One further note on the ring towns shown above. Their drive times are accurate and their booking links are live, but the availability counts beside them were gathered for a commencement weekend, not for a November football Saturday. Use them as a guide to which market is deeper, not as a forecast for this weekend.
