One line, every degree

IUP’s 2026-27 academic calendar lists Spring 2027 commencement as a single entry: “Commencement - Associate’s, Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Degrees | Saturday, May 8, 2027.” The fall round is on the same calendar: “Commencement | Saturday, December 12, 2026.”

8 May 2027 and 12 December 2026 are both Saturdays. Two dates, from the university, weekday consistent.

What the line hides

A calendar entry that names every degree level at once is describing a day, not a ceremony. May 2026 shows the shape. IUP honoured 1,452 graduates across three ceremonies, at 8:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., each for a group of colleges, at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.

For a family that is the whole question: an 8:30 a.m. sitting means the Friday night and an early alarm; a 5 p.m. sitting means the Saturday night. The 2027 split is not published, and this page does not guess which colleges go where.

What was true in 2026

Tickets. “Each graduate may claim six tickets for guests,” and tickets were required for all guests.

Parking. Designated commencement lots near the ceremonies and across campus, at no charge.

Stream. “A video live-stream of all the ceremonies will be provided.”

Venue. The Kovalchick Complex.

All 2026 guidance from IUP’s commencement site as read on 14 September 2026, recorded as pattern. IUP posts each round’s specifics closer to the date, and the December 2026 venue and schedule were not yet up.

The hotel is beside the door

The Kovalchick Complex has a 128-room Hilton Garden Inn attached, and a 148-room Ramada a mile south. Against 1,452 graduates in three sittings, the Hilton goes first. The where to stay page has the three hotels and the ring to Johnstown and Greensburg.
