Parent & Family Weekend runs 23 to 25 October 2026, and that is not the date to put in your calendar first.

U-M’s Dean of Students office states that registration is required to participate in Parent & Family Weekend events, and that the link to register appears on its own page on 19 August at noon EST. A weekend two months out with a registration window opening at a published hour is a rare thing to be able to plan against, and it is the reason to have this page open now rather than in October.

Two jobs, then, and they are not the same job. Register when the link goes live. Book the room on whatever timeline suits you, because no U-M room block for this weekend was found and no Ann Arbor property publishes a deadline tied to it.

Ann Arbor is the one campus here with a real escape route

Almost every cluster on this site is built around isolation: the nearest alternative is a genuine drive. Ann Arbor is the exception, and it changes the strategy from finding any room to choosing a price.

Ypsilanti sits about 12 minutes away with its own, much cheaper hotel stock. Detroit’s western suburbs, Plymouth, Livonia and the airport corridor, are 25 to 30 minutes out with deep independent markets that do not reprice around the University of Michigan’s calendar.

That is a genuine option rather than a consolation. A family willing to drive twenty minutes on a Saturday morning is choosing between markets, not scrambling for whatever is left.

What this page will not tell you

Parent and Family Weekend is often assumed to be easier to book than a home football Saturday. That is an inference rather than a measurement, and this page does not make it.

Here is the honest position. The Ann Arbor hotel evidence on this site was gathered for commencement weekend, where the university itself warns that “hotels and restaurants in and around Ann Arbor book up far in advance”, and separately for football Saturdays at a 107,601-seat stadium. Neither was gathered for this weekend. We also have not confirmed whether a home game falls on Saturday 24 October 2026, and if one does, the entire comparison inverts.

So: the ring towns below are real, their drive times are measured, and the price gap is genuine. What we cannot tell you is how full any of it will be on this particular weekend.

No U-M room block, discounted rate or partner-hotel list for Parent & Family Weekend, and no cancellation deadline at any Ann Arbor property tied to it.

The event schedule itself. U-M says the programme will be posted on its parent portal as it becomes available, so which events run on which day, and which are open to visiting families rather than students, is still to come.

Whether 24 October 2026 is a home football Saturday, which is the single fact that would most change the booking advice on this page. When the athletics schedule is published, this page should be re-read against it.
