WKU's registrar calendar lists "Commencement Thursday, May 6" and "College Recognition Ceremonies Friday, May 7" for Spring 2027, and the commencement FAQ says "Save the date for Thursday, May 6, 2027" and that "College Recognition Ceremonies occur in E.A. Diddle Arena." 6 May 2027 is a Thursday and 7 May a Friday. The FAQ describes the Thursday ceremony in the present tense: an evening that "begins with a (30-minute) Topper Walk down the center of campus, ending at Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium where the (60-minute) Commencement Ceremony takes place." Exact times were not published at this check. For December, the commencement page states the Fall College Recognition Ceremonies "will be held on Friday, December 11, 2026 in E.A. Diddle Arena" and "will occur throughout the day", with no Thursday ceremony. WKU awarded 3,395 degrees and certificates in Spring 2026, and the FAQ says "Tickets are not required and there is no limit" on guests, as read on 14 September 2026.

Thursday for everyone, Friday by college

WKU’s registrar calendar reads “Commencement Thursday, May 6” and “College Recognition Ceremonies Friday, May 7”. The commencement FAQ agrees: “Save the date for Thursday, May 6, 2027.” 6 May 2027 is a Thursday, 7 May a Friday.

The Thursday ceremony is university-wide. The Friday ceremonies are by college, in E.A. Diddle Arena per the FAQ: “College Recognition Ceremonies occur in E.A. Diddle Arena.” Which college walks at which hour was not published at this check.

Thursday ends at the stadium

The FAQ describes the Thursday ceremony in the present tense: “The evening begins with a (30-minute) Topper Walk down the center of campus, ending at Houchens Industries - L.T. Smith Stadium where the (60-minute) Commencement Ceremony takes place.” An evening event, outdoors, ninety minutes from first step to last. The description is standing text rather than a line attached to the 2027 date; this page carries it as WKU’s description and the November review checks it against the 2027 schedule.

No tickets, no limit

The FAQ: “Tickets are not required and there is no limit” on guests, as read on 14 September 2026. Diddle Arena is finite and the FAQ adds that the recognition ceremonies are held “rain or shine” inside it; arrive early for a popular college’s hour.

December is a Friday in Diddle Arena

The commencement page: “WKU’s Fall College Recognition Ceremonies will be held on Friday, December 11, 2026 in E.A. Diddle Arena.” And: “Ceremonies will occur throughout the day.” The per-college schedule of events was not yet posted at this check. There is no Thursday ceremony in December; the same page invites fall graduates to return for the May 2027 Commencement Ceremony and Topper Walk. Plan on the Thursday night.

A weekday round in a city that has sold out before

Two working days, so time off and two nights for families attending both. Bowling Green has a chain base two to three miles from campus, and a hotel sales manager told local news in 2019 that graduation is “a definite sellout”; that hotel is now WKU’s Center Hall. The where to stay page has the three hotels still taking guests, the 124-room Staybridge first, and the ring toward Nashville.
