The date, and the bigger question of where

Emory’s university Commencement is Monday 10 May 2027. That comes from Emory’s own 2026-2027 academic calendar, published as a PDF by the registrar, and the weekday checks out: 10 May 2027 is a Monday, which matches Emory’s pattern of holding the university ceremony on the Monday.

It is worth knowing where that date lives, because it is not where most people look. commencement.emory.edu is still on the 2026 cycle and does not carry it. The registrar’s calendar does. That calendar carries no December or winter commencement for Emory, checked explicitly, so May is the only round.

The more consequential finding on this cluster is not the date at all.

The ceremony may not be in Atlanta

The combined Atlanta cluster this page replaces asserted “The Quadrangle” on Emory’s campus as the venue.

Emory’s own 2026 page says something different: its 181st Commencement was held “at the Gas South District in Duluth, Georgia, and on Emory’s campuses in Oxford and Atlanta.”

Duluth is a separate city, roughly 25 miles northeast of the Atlanta campus, in Gwinnett County. If the 2027 university ceremony repeats that arrangement, a family that booked beside the Druid Hills campus is not taking a short detour on the morning; they are in a different lodging market on the wrong side of a large metro.

Emory has published no 2027 venue, so this page names none. What it will not do is repeat the Quadrangle assertion, which was an inference and appears to have been contradicted by the most recent round.

The round is a week, not a day

The 2026 cycle ran 7 to 11 May, covering the university Commencement and a set of separate school diploma ceremonies at venues including the Emory Student Center and the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts.

That distinction matters for the same reason it does at Yale and Vanderbilt: the university ceremony is the shared event, and the school diploma ceremony is usually where your graduate is individually named. Families often want both, and they are on different days in different buildings.

Emory has not published the 2027 schedule, so which day your school falls on is an open question.

Georgia Tech is on a completely different cycle

Worth knowing if you are comparing Atlanta graduation weekends.

Georgia Tech’s next round is 17 to 19 December 2026, and it publishes no spring 2027 date. So the two Atlanta institutions this cluster used to cover together are not competing for the same rooms at all. Georgia Tech’s detail is on its own page.

What we checked

Emory’s commencement site and its ceremony schedule page were read on 19 August 2026. Both are on the 2026 cycle. The Gas South District and Duluth statement, the 7 to 11 May range and the school ceremony examples all come from those pages directly.

Not published for 2027, and each a real absence: the venue, the start time, the school diploma ceremony schedule, and any ticket or guest limit. Given the Duluth question, the venue is the one to watch.
