Georgia Tech's next commencement is FALL COMMENCEMENT, 17 to 19 DECEMBER 2026, in McCamish Pavilion, and Georgia Tech has now published the schedule: five ceremonies. Thursday 17 December has a Ph.D. ceremony (10 to 11:30 a.m.) and an afternoon ceremony (6 to 8:30 p.m.); Friday 18 December has a morning ceremony (9 to 11:30 a.m.) and an afternoon one (4 to 6:30 p.m.); Saturday 19 December has a morning ceremony (9 to 11:30 a.m.). Which one is yours depends on your degree level, college and major, and Georgia Tech's page lists the assignments. Summer graduates are explicitly invited to participate in the December ceremonies. RSVP is open 8 to 30 October. No spring 2027 date is published.

The next round is December, and it is three days

Georgia Tech’s Fall Commencement runs 17 to 19 December 2026, Thursday to Saturday. Georgia Tech states the range plainly on its own commencement site, and the weekdays check out.

That round was absent from this site until this audit. The combined Atlanta cluster this page replaces carried a May 2026 date, a ceremony that had already been held, so it was advertising the past while the next round went unmentioned.

Five ceremonies, and which one is yours

Georgia Tech runs five ceremonies across the three days, all in McCamish Pavilion, split by degree level, college and major. Its events schedule page publishes them:

Ceremony Time Doors
Thu 17 Dec, Ph.D. 10 to 11:30 a.m. 8:30 a.m.
Thu 17 Dec, afternoon 6 to 8:30 p.m. 4:30 p.m.
Fri 18 Dec, morning 9 to 11:30 a.m. 7:30 a.m.
Fri 18 Dec, afternoon 4 to 6:30 p.m. 2:30 p.m.
Sat 19 Dec, morning 9 to 11:30 a.m. 7:30 a.m.

Georgia Tech’s home page says that a completed RSVP is required to walk, and that the RSVP is open 8 to 30 October. The same events page lists which colleges and majors are assigned to each ceremony, so the question “which night?” now has a published answer for your graduate.

The nights follow from the schedule: a 9 a.m. start with doors at 7:30 is the case for the night before, and a 6 to 8:30 p.m. ceremony is the case for the night of. That is our reading of the schedule, not Georgia Tech’s advice.

Summer graduates walk in December

Stated directly by Georgia Tech: all summer graduates are invited to participate in the Fall 2026 Commencement ceremonies.

Worth knowing, because a family whose graduate finished in August may assume they have missed the event entirely. They have not; December is theirs.

Spring 2027 is not published

No spring 2027 date appears on the commencement site. The 2026 spring ceremony was held at McCamish Pavilion, which is the recent pattern and not a 2027 commitment, so this page does not carry it forward as a fact.

Atlanta absorbs this easily, which is the good news

Georgia Tech sits in one of the deepest hotel markets in the southeast. Unlike most clusters on this site, the constraint here is rarely whether rooms exist.

That shifts the useful advice from availability to timing and rate, and it is why the December date matters more than the room count: mid-December in Atlanta is a different pricing environment from May, and the three-day spread means the specific night depends on a schedule that is not out yet.

What we checked

Georgia Tech’s commencement home page and its schedule of events page were read on 17 October 2026 and carry the December date range, the five ceremonies with times and doors times, the RSVP window and the summer-graduate statement quoted above.

Not published, and each a real absence: the spring 2027 date (Georgia Tech says it will be announced in fall), and any ticket or guest limit.

Frequently asked questions

When is Georgia Tech's next commencement?

Fall Commencement runs 17 to 19 December 2026, Thursday to Saturday, in McCamish Pavilion. Georgia Tech publishes the five-ceremony schedule on its commencement site.

Which day is my graduate's ceremony?

It is set by degree level, college and major. The ceremonies are Thursday 17 December at 10 a.m. (Ph.D. graduates) and 6 p.m., Friday 18 December at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Saturday 19 December at 9 a.m. Georgia Tech's events schedule page lists which colleges and majors are in each, so check your graduate's major there before you pick a night.

What time do the doors open?

Georgia Tech lists doors times for each ceremony: 8:30 a.m. for the Thursday Ph.D. ceremony, 4:30 p.m. for Thursday afternoon, 7:30 a.m. for Friday morning, 2:30 p.m. for Friday afternoon and 7:30 a.m. for Saturday morning.

Can summer graduates walk in December?

Yes. Georgia Tech states that all summer graduates are invited to participate in the Fall 2026 Commencement ceremonies. Its home page says an RSVP is required to walk, open 8 to 30 October.

Is there a spring 2027 date?

Not published at this check; Georgia Tech's commencement site says spring 2027 dates will be announced in fall. The 2026 spring ceremony was held at McCamish Pavilion, which is the recent pattern rather than a 2027 fact.

Does Emory graduate at the same time?

No. Emory's university commencement is Monday 10 May 2027, and in 2026 Emory held its ceremony at the Gas South District in Duluth rather than on its Atlanta campus. See the Emory page.
