Georgia Southern's registrar lists three Fall 2026 ceremonies, all at 1:00 p.m.: TUESDAY 8 DECEMBER, undergraduate, at Enmarket Arena in SAVANNAH; WEDNESDAY 9 DECEMBER, graduate, at the Hill Convocation Center in STATESBORO; and THURSDAY 10 DECEMBER, undergraduate, at Paulson Stadium in STATESBORO. Beyond that there is genuinely little to worry about here. Statesboro availability was measured across five matched windows and commencement week looks exactly like the weeks either side.

Three ceremonies, three days, two cities
Georgia Southern’s registrar publishes the Fall 2026 schedule, and the shape of it is the whole story:

Two of those are in Statesboro. One is an hour away in Savannah.
Before you look at a single hotel, find out which ceremony your graduate is in. It is the only decision on this page that is expensive to get wrong, and it takes one message to settle.
The unusual part: the town does not fill up
Most pages on this site exist to tell you a small town is about to run out of rooms. This one does not, and the numbers are the reason.

Flat. Commencement week sits in the middle of its own controls and does not move.
That is not luck, it is structure. Georgia Southern splits its round across three separate weekdays in two cities, so the families never converge on one night. A single Saturday stadium ceremony in a town of Statesboro’s size would produce a very different table, and plenty of clusters on this site do exactly that.
So book in good time because rooms are finite, not because they are disappearing. If you are reading this in August, you have the pick of the town.
Savannah is not the overflow, it is a venue
For a large share of families, the ring town is the destination.
The Tuesday undergraduate ceremony is held at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, and Savannah returned over 200 bookable properties for the same window, against Statesboro’s 49. It is a full metro market with everything from interstate chains to historic-district boutiques.
If your ceremony is the Tuesday one, ignore Statesboro entirely and book Savannah.

Given Statesboro holds steady, most families will not need this table at all. It matters in one case: if you leave the booking very late, the nearby towns are far too small to absorb you. Metter, Swainsboro and Dublin are single-figure markets. They are not a plan.
Savannah is the only real depth within an hour, which is convenient, because for a third of the graduating families that is where the ceremony is anyway.
Note that Swainsboro hosts a Georgia Southern campus but has no ceremony on the Fall 2026 schedule, so do not base yourself there expecting to be near one.
What is not established
Spring 2027 has no dates. The registrar lists the ceremonies as TBD. The graduation application deadline is 01/29/2027.
No ticket policy was published for the Fall 2026 ceremonies when we checked.
One warning about sourcing, because it caught us. Georgia Southern’s commencement microsite is out of date: as of 12 August 2026 it still showed Spring 2026 only, with no Fall 2026 content at all. Counts are bookable properties returned for an identical three-night search, 8 to 11 December 2026, run against a single booking engine in one session on 12 August 2026. They are a like-for-like comparison rather than a census of every bed in the area. Statesboro is quoted precisely because all three of the engine's count fields agreed on it; the smaller ring towns are given as ranges because those fields disagreed at that size, and a spuriously precise number would be worse than an honest range.

Fall 2026 runs across three weekdays. Tuesday 8 December is the undergraduate ceremony at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Wednesday 9 December is the graduate ceremony at the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center in Statesboro, and Thursday 10 December is the undergraduate ceremony at Paulson Stadium in Statesboro. All three start at 1:00 p.m.
Which one is my graduate in?
Ask them, and do it before booking. The split is by campus and by degree level, and the two undergraduate ceremonies are an hour apart in different cities. This is the single most expensive thing to get wrong on this cluster, and it costs nothing to check.
Is Statesboro hard to book for commencement?
No, and we would rather say so than manufacture urgency. We ran the same three-night search across five matched windows on 12 August 2026 and got 48, 51, 49, 48 and 46 bookable properties for the weeks of 17 November, 1 December, 8 December, 15 December and 12 January. Commencement week is the middle one and it is indistinguishable from its neighbours.
Why doesn't commencement squeeze the town?
Because it is spread out. Three ceremonies across three separate weekdays in two cities means the families never arrive all at once, which is the thing that empties a small hotel market. A single Saturday stadium ceremony in a town this size would look very different.
What if my graduate's ceremony is the Savannah one?
Then book Savannah, not Statesboro. The Tuesday ceremony is physically held at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, an hour from campus, and Savannah has over 200 bookable properties for that window against Statesboro's 49. For those families Savannah is not the overflow option, it is the destination.
These are weekdays. Does that change anything?
It changes the trip more than the booking. Tuesday to Thursday means time off work and school rather than a weekend away, and it is part of why the hotel market stays calm. Rates through the week are usually kinder than a Saturday too.

Not published. The registrar lists Spring 2027 ceremonies as TBD. The graduation application deadline for that term is 01/29/2027, which is usually a sign the schedule follows not long after. Check the registrar page rather than the commencement microsite, for the reason given below.
