Graduation Week 2027 runs Thursday June 24 (Athletic Awards, Change of Command), Friday June 25 (Awards Convocation), Saturday June 26 (Regimental Parade), and Commencement for the Class of 2027 on Monday, June 28. Classes detach for leave after the ceremony.

Monday the 28th, after a week of ceremony

The Academy publishes Graduation Week as a sequence rather than a single date, and the whole of it comes from its own 2026-2027 calendar:

Day Events
Thursday, June 24 Athletic Awards Ceremony · Change of Command Ceremony
Friday, June 25 Awards Convocation · third term finals end
Saturday, June 26 Regimental Parade
Monday, June 28 Commencement — Class of 2027

Classes detach for leave after the ceremony, which closes the academic year.

The parade, the convocation, the change of command

What this schedule tells a visiting family is that the ceremony is the last thing rather than the only thing.

The Change of Command and Athletic Awards open the week on the Thursday. The Awards Convocation follows on Friday, on the same day third term finals conclude. The Regimental Parade on Saturday is the set-piece — the kind of event that draws extended family and photographs, and the reason a service academy graduation is a multi-day proposition rather than an afternoon.

We have not independently confirmed access arrangements, ticketing or seating for the individual events, and we are not going to imply otherwise. The Academy is the source for that. What the calendar establishes clearly is the shape and the dates.

How this differs from West Point and Annapolis

This site covers the other service academies, and the comparison is genuinely useful rather than decorative.

The event structure is nearly identical — a week of named ceremonies culminating in one commencement — which is why this cluster is built the same way as our West Point and Naval Academy pages rather than as a standard single-ceremony campus.

The lodging situation is the opposite. West Point’s Thayer Hotel stated on its own site that it was sold out for the Class of 2027 roughly ten months ahead, and the entire Hudson Highlands region defeated our mapping tool. Annapolis has Gibson’s Inn advising that Commissioning Week rooms book up to two years in advance. Both are constrained towns with a national audience arriving at once.

Kings Point has a national audience too — and the New York metropolitan hotel market forty minutes down the road. That is why this cluster is graded elevated while those two are extreme, and why the hotel page argues about walking distance and daily commutes rather than about availability. Completing the set of service academies on this site does not mean pretending they all behave the same way.

Frequently asked questions

What is the full Graduation Week schedule?

From the Academy's own 2026-2027 calendar — Thursday June 24, Athletic Awards Ceremony and Change of Command Ceremony; Friday June 25, Awards Convocation, with third term finals ending; Saturday June 26, Regimental Parade; Monday June 28, Commencement for the Class of 2027. Classes detach for leave after the ceremony.

Why is Commencement on a Monday?

We do not know the Academy's reasoning and are not going to guess at it. What matters practically is the effect: the week opens on a Thursday and closes after the following weekend, so families attending throughout are booking four or five nights rather than two.

Is the Regimental Parade open to families?

It is listed as part of Graduation Week on the Academy's calendar, alongside the Awards Convocation and Change of Command. We have not independently confirmed access arrangements or ticketing for individual events, so check with the Academy rather than assuming any of them are open seating.

How does this compare with the other service academies here?

Structurally it is the same shape — a week of named events culminating in one ceremony, which is how our [West Point](/west-point/ceremony-weekend-logistics/) and [Naval Academy](/naval-academy/ceremony-weekend-logistics/) pages are built too. The difference is the market around it: those sit in constrained towns, this one sits forty minutes from New York.

Where exactly is the Academy?

300 Steamboat Road, Kings Point, on a peninsula at the north-west corner of Nassau County. There are no hotels in the village itself — see [where to stay](/usmma/where-to-stay/).
