A week of events, ending on a Monday
The Academy’s own 2026-2027 calendar sets out the whole of Graduation Week:
- Thursday, June 24 — Athletic Awards Ceremony and Change of Command
- Friday, June 25 — Awards Convocation
- Saturday, June 26 — Regimental Parade
- Monday, June 28 — Commencement, Class of 2027
That Monday is the fact to plan around. Every other commencement on this site resolves over a weekend; this one begins on a Thursday and finishes after it. A family attending the full week is holding a room for four or five nights in late June, which is a different order of commitment from the two-night booking most graduation weekends require.
It also means the Sunday in the middle is a held night rather than a departure day — worth checking before you assume a cheaper weekend-only rate covers you.
No hotels on the campus, and few in the village
Kings Point is a small residential village on a peninsula, and it has no hotels at all.
The nearest conventional options are both in Great Neck, roughly two and a half miles away: the Inn at Great Neck on Cutter Mill Road, and The Andrew Hotel on North Station Plaza, which runs an airport shuttle — genuinely relevant for a service academy whose families fly in from across the country.
That is a short list, and short lists go first when a four-day event is drawing on them. Neither property publishes commencement-specific terms.
Manhattan is closer than it looks
Here is what makes this cluster the inverse of the other service academies on this site.
West Point sits in the Hudson Highlands, where the Thayer Hotel’s own site declared it sold out for the Class of 2027 roughly ten months ahead, and where our own research could not find a working map coordinate within several miles. Annapolis has Gibson’s Inn advising that lodging books up to two years in advance.
Kings Point has produced no evidence of that kind, and we are not going to borrow the urgency from its sister academies to make this page feel more dramatic. The reason is simple geography: the entire New York metropolitan hotel market is within about forty minutes. Garden City is twenty, the LaGuardia corridor twenty-five, and Manhattan itself is a manageable drive.
So this is graded elevated rather than extreme, and the honest advice is narrower than usual. You are not at risk of finding nothing. You are at risk of finding nothing walkable, across a week rather than a weekend, and then commuting into a north-shore village every morning for four days.
